Jane,

It makes sense to me that you are happy yet sad. I have been there. You are happy for there progress but sad they will no longer be there. I gelt the same way when my sister and her family first moved to Texas from California. I cried for days after they left.

I also smiled when I would see a picture or have a memory of our time. So yes it makes perfect sense to me.

Sewing sounds like a good way to fill time and you can make special items for them and mail it.

Dress shopping would drive me batty, I was married in a borrowed dress the first time and jeans the second. Lol

Have fun my friend and its okay to be happy and sad. Think of the good and stay in the now.

Thank you Miss JD, I've always had problems with attachment and get into a state when things change, people die, move away or even when friendships come to a natural end. I have worked it through with professionals but obviously I'm not much better at letting go. Maybe this time I'll get over it quicker, doesn't feel like it just now.

I agree with MissJD. My best friend moved all the way to the frigid north (I'm in Arkansas and he went to Utah). I miss him soo much but I'm glad he's in an area with more job opportunities. We talk a few times a week.

Maybe you can try a cook out for your other neighbors? You never know if you don't try. There may be a support group for people with depression in your area and that would be a good place to meet people who understand. It's hard but if you don't put yourself out there you won't make new friends. You can do this!

Karen I figured if I couldnt be comfy then I wouldnt do it. Lol my friends almst freaked that I wouldnt wear a dress. Lol

I also agree with A/V when you are up for it make friends with the other neighbor's you have. This will help with the missing your friends and you will make new ones. No shame in being happy and missing someone.

My mouth pain is getting better and I have to get back into the routine of getting up @ 6:15 to take my son to school. Early bed for me and my son tonight thats for sure.

I need groceries. Its 8 degrees here. What happened to global warming?!? I can make the kids live off gatorade, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and popcorn right?

I have to go tomorrow to get new xrays and an MRI on my knee for the surgeon. I have to remember to mention the screw in my shoulder. I don't think that would be fun.

Guess I am going back to my Hoarders fest. It always makes me feel so much better about my house. I have the opposite problem, I throw everything away and then miss it later! Lol!

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I have posted anything but I have been lurking. Since you last heard from me Sammy was stolen and I miss that dog terribly. He was a great dog.

My new year so far has been terrible. On January 2nd I had surgery on my right knee I had a torn meniscus and a cyst in my knee. In December I had a cat scan on my sinuses and the sinuses turned out to be clear but they found a large cyst on my right jaw. I went to the oral surgeon today to find out what could be done and the surgeon told me it was a miracle that my jaw hasn't broken the cyst was so big. On January 20th she is going to do a biopsy on the cyst to find out what kind of cyst it is. She told me right off the bat that it was not cancerous but she needs to find out what kind of cyst it is. If I am lucky it will be the kind of cyst she can operate on, if not I will have to go the Raleigh and have it done there. That would be a three hour drive. After she takes the cyst out she will have to put a metal plate in my jaw. She also said if they hit the nerve in my jaw the right side of my face could be numb. I am not looking forward to this procedure at all.

Hi Catwamyn,

Glad to see you back but sorry for the reason. I sure hope that the cyst is easy to get out. I had one in my mouth that they removed and did a root canal at the same time. I was asleep so I didn't feel it. It was big but not as big as yours.

I wish you all the best. Keep posting, you will get a lot of encouragement here, as you probably already know. Everybody here is so supportive.

I hope that today is a good day. Your new year has been challanging to say the least, but I would not say terrible... Look at it as a challenge. Bring it on, right???? NOT... Take care sweetie...

Good morning all ......

Not fit for human or animal!

That's what the weatherman should be saying!

   Hope everyone is OK out there. The sun is out - but it hardly matters when the temp is -12 degrees with a 10mph wind and a wind chill of -32 degrees (even a -22 degree dewpoint)!

   Forecast over!!!

   Again, no dogs or humans walking out here today. I think Gizmo is getting frustrated. His latest trick is, while I'm on the computer, he's next to me going thru the garbage (waste basket) under the desk - and pulling things out and running downstairs with them.

   Last night, I was on the phone, and he stole (right in front of me) my Spiriva box - still can't find my inhaler. Then he came back and took my Advair dispenser and crushed it - but it was an empty one. And he always takes an empty 16.9 ounce water bottle if there is one on my table. He loves to crush those!

   It's like he's saying to himself "he won't see me take this - he's on the phone"!!!

   Yep ......... he's back to himself~!!!!

   Karen ...... thanks for always being there for everyone.

   UA ........ I wish I could help you get out of that state of mind.

   Happy Turtle ....... hey - does tired - mean sleep? Hope so!

   Cat ...... been a long time - sorry you're going thru this - and sorry about Sammy!

   AV ........ 8 degrees? Does anyone have a winter coat???????

   MissJD ...... hoped your mouth is better soon.

   FusionGirl ....... I'm going to have to say good-bye to my daughter and her BF in another 5-months when they move 1000-miles away. I anticipate the pain .... but also the joy for her - at the same time - for herr new adventure.

   Good to see a lot of posts in the past day - take care all.

Hello everyone! Rob, we have coats but not the ones that you need up north! I had to find gloves and hats for the kids. I knew we had some somewhere. I don't know how you and Karen stand it!

Glad your mouth is feeling better, MisJD. Please still see the dentist!

Catwamyn, I hope the cyst is an easy one to remove. So very glad it isn't cancerous.

Rob, Mojo likes to steal my glasses, soda caps, and qtips. After anyone comes out of the bathroom he runs in to check for qtips in the trash. Then he carries around like a dog carries a stick and when he is done he puts them in the water bowl. He also enjoys pushing things off the counter. I can be looking at him and he will push something with his paw until it falls in the floor. He's a very mischievous guy!

Left the house at 6:25 this am. We officially stood at 2 F, and at -12 with wind chill.

It wasn't so bad, really. I was dressed for it, which many here were not. I had to stop for gas.

Have my therapist appointment at 2, then a visit to the gym/pool. Need some warm water and sauna to make life better.

   UA ........ Gizzy has come around. Yeah - that's how he is when he feels good. At times, he is one mischievous doggie - and at other times, his big brown eyes just make you melt when he looks at you! Every time I'm on the phone, he does this (i think) just to get attention - because, as soon as I get off the phone, he comes over and just lays down next to me.

   Too bad the Dog Whisperer is out in California!

   As far as the cold is concerned, I can't speak for Karen .... but I'm getting sick of it - and there's likely another two + months before the first Spring flowers come out.

   If I didn't have all these doctors I need to see on a regular basis, I would certainly consider my long time dream move of going to Ashville, NC - and find a condo in the foothills of the Smokeys! But then there would be no one to go see Mom at the Assisted Living home.

   We lived in Charlotte for a few months in 1988/89 - loved it there! But the potential job did not work out and I didn't get much SE work there - but a job offer came from an old boss in Chicago. Oh well - we all have a story!!!

   I've just passed thru Ashville a couple of times - did a lot of weather and housing mostly research. Sure do love driving thru the mountains!!!

   Now UA ......... why are you so blue?

   Mom or BF? Think of something fun to do .... dream a little .... why not. We all need a break from reality from time to time. Ever gone to Hawaii? I haven't ..... but dream a little. Hope your day gets better.

Hey You guys, It got up to 5 degrees. I don't know how I stand it AV, kind of stuck here... It normally isn't this bad. We get snow and cold, but not to this extreme for such a long time. On a good note, though, it is suppose to warm up to the 30's here in a couple of days. I am looking forward to that...

I sincerely hope you all are having a good day despite weather and pain... It is always something, isn't it..???

I am thinking about taking a nap. I got up early again. Too early. Thing is I stayed up kind of late... Thought I would sleep until atleast 7:00 or so... No such luck. This weather is also making me tired and in pain. Time to correct that...
