Depressed ex partner wants no contact

Hi I am new here and was hoping I could get some advise as I am very confused with my thoughts at the moment:

Me and my ex broke up in June of last year naturally I was very upset as the decision was mostly on her part i didnt cope well ahe wouldnt let me speak to her and she would ignore me if i called. We werebt meant to be going on holiday in August with some friends she went on her own and I moved my stuff out whilst she was gone as I found myself a flat to rent and could move in that week. I started to pick myself up a bit and joined a dating website to help take my mind of things and move on. I met a guy and we got on really well and before long it turned into a relationship I was the happiest id been in a long time. I kept it from my ex as I didn't think she was in a good place to hear I had moved on. Anyway she found out and went rapidly down hill she stayed with her mum for awhile and became very depressed. I'm not saying my new relationship is the reason she's depressed but I do think it triggered it. She then decided to contact me and we text for a bit it then became more regular and one night she disappeared on a long drive and asked to see me when she returned at 3am. I went round there and she was angry and was yelling at me then she changed in seconds and told me she was depressed. Stupidly I stayed the night. I carried on my new relationship and tried to forget her but she would contact me and ask me for help. She then quite her job and got really bad stayed in bed and didn't do anything with her days. She said she was suicidal. I would go and visit her and stay some nights as me and her mum were so worried about her.

One night her mum was really worried and tried to stay awake all night but when she woke my ex had gone her mum rang me and I came over straight from work. She had ran away to kill herself. There were letters left for me her mum and two friends which was very hard to read. Luckily she came home she was wet and cold and very weak I took her straight to her bed to rest. The decision was made that day to but her in a secure unit and she was taken that afternoon. I would go in and visit her 2 to 3 times a week and she never seemed any better. She made the decision not to see me anymore and then with in half hour she changed her mind. We always knew that we would have to end whatever had started up between us again. I was feeling incredible guilty because I was still with my boyfriend I knew I should do it but I love her so much and couldn't abandon we because she needed me. I did end it with him as it wasn't fair and I didn't know where my head was and needed to help my ex she was in a really bad way. She wouldn't text me and ask if I could help her and that she wanted me with her etc and when I would go and visit her she would be very affectionate with me and it was almost like it used to be with us. A week before Christmas she decided she wasn't sure what to do and if she each other was right for either of us and she needed some space. We arranged to see each other Boxing Day to discuss what we were going to do.

I got there we exchanged present, watched a film and had dinner then spoke afterwards. She made the decision that it was best that we didn't see each other anymore as she was worried we would slip back into a relationship and that is would go wrong again. I'm finding it very hard not to see her and don't know what to do I almost feel like she spoke to me when she needed me and now she doesn't that's it. She came out of the unit after 9 weeks last week and has been trying to keep herself busy. I don't know what to do she won't contact me or answer any calls or texts I've sent her its like she's deleted me from her life. Also we have mutual friends so I always hear about her. I'm really not coping with not seeing her and I don't feel I can just walk away when I've been so involved with the situation from the beging and it just feels like I'm expected to just forget it all.

Is she doing this because she can't handle being depressed and her feeling she's has for me? Does she even care how its affecting me?
Will she ever contact me again? If she doesn't I don't think I would be ok with that. I miss her terribly and I just don't know how to get over this. I love her so much and I know we could have a good relationship together but she just doesn't think she will I don't know if that because of her depression or if that's how she truly feels.

Any help would be very appreciated

Karen is correct. Even if you did start up a relationship with this person again it would be shakey at best. Is that the kind of relationhip you want? Walkiing on eggshells?

Do not get pulled in again. Leave now while you have a clean chance to work on you and your live, happiness and future.

Thank you very much for your replies. I do think the only thing I can do is try and get on with my life that's all I can do. I want her to get better and she's going to do that with it without me.
