Wellbutrin 300mg "honeymoon" period?

Hi all,

Yesterday I took my first dose of 300mg Wellbutrin XL. I have been on 150mg for a year and half, and they just decided that I might not be completely leveled out.

Today I am feeling like I could conquer the world. I've been the happiest today that I have been in two years. I am kinda hyper and feel absolutely amazing. However, it's kinda inconvenient because my grandfather died two days ago, and this is supposed to be a grieving time for me. I kinda feel bad because I am feeling super happy when my family is crying at his invitation.

Has anyone else experienced this type of "honeymoon" stage with an increase in this drug? Is this normal?

I experienced racing thoughts, severe insomnia, and maybe some slight hyper ness. Everyone reacts differently to medications. If it's something that concerns you then you should speak to your dr.

I definitely see where the insomnia could come in. Especially tonight. I don't think my brain wants to slow down. I feel wide awake even though I haven't really slept in days. haha.

No problem. My brain was very alive and didn't want to shut down for sleeping. It passed after about a week or two. I have insomnia normally but that pushed it to extremes. Lol

Angelic_Victory,

The insomnia is pretty frustrating. For me it's like, I might get a little bit tired, but AS SOON as I lay my head on the pillow, I'm wide awake again. haha.

For me, my brain was just all over the place. Like my brain had ADHD. I hope you get some sleep, too.

The good news is I find it very effective for my depression and anxiety. I also feel "normal". I feel normal emotions and everything. Hope it's just as good for you.
