I can't believe we are on our 69th thread!!! They sure do go fasts... I enjoy them so much...

I hope everybody is having a good day today. It is now -1 degrees and suppose to get pretty cold. The wind is suppose to pick up and it has been snowing all day.

I am inside of course. Comfortable, warm and baking a pork loin roast. Yum... I put all kinds of herbs that I grew in it. Got to add carrots and then potatoes. I cant' wait for it to be done!!!

JB, I agree with Carl- throw a muffin at them! Sorry they are causing you this frustration.

Well, another Arctic front is coming in to south Texas. The ice is the big deal down here- we don't know how to drive on it or handle it. So, they have made the decision to cancel school tomorrow and there is a question mark on Wednesday. Tomorrow, I get to sleep in! YAY! I am going to the store after school today and stocking up with the idea of being iced in for 2 days

Doing OK today. It's that wonderful time of the month (sorry guys, tmi) so I am a bit down. But at least I know it is hormone related.

Well, everyone stay nice and toasty. I know I will!

It's gonna be down to a freakin -18 degrees tonight

That comes in at a wind chill of -35 degrees or worse.

I'm outta food! Gotta go to the CVS now for:

a stouffers lasagna and sumpin else - for two

or three meals thru tomorrow. Will pick-up a card

for Jamie though while I'm there!

This cold weather can make anyone a little pissy!

Woke up middle of Saturday night/Sunday morning with a cough. Battling this chest cold. Gastro appointment tomorrow. I was out of my zolpidem(ambien) for the weekend, so spent most of the weekend in extra pain. The new pharmacy I have to use is only open Monday through Friday. If I don't sleep well, I get more pain. I picked up the new prescription on my way home.

On the bright side, ran into my elementary school art teacher at church on Sunday. Hah! She has an unusual name and I remembered it.

Looking for work for the rest of the week. Meeting with a tutoring coordinator on Wednesday afternoon. She called about a job in Metro DC, but I wasn't willing to do the drive. If I am in the car longer than I am at work, I won't do it.

I am glad that you got your ambien Myself... I take a half of one every other night. I am happy I can do that. One month lasts me four...

I am glad you remembered the art teacher's name. That is good. I am terrible with names. No matter what I do to try to remember them. I have actually called people by the wrong name, boy is that embarrassing...

Rob, Lasagna sounds so good. I am going to have to make some. I have been making a lot of soups this winter. Especially chicken noodle. I am getting stuff tomorrow for some.

Michele, what temperature is cold for Texas? I have never been there. I have lived in Michigan all my life where it is c o l d...

I used to take Rozerem and loved it, but my old insurance said no thanks. Likely, my gastro will change out my CD meds tomorrow, which is fine.

Making tuna steaks with green beans and pesto tonight. Feeling awful, and debating not doing work tomorrow, since I have full days set up for the rest of the week.

Stay inside. Cold is all relative. So, all stay warm.

Hi all-

Myself- feel better soon. Take it easy.

Karen- anything under 32 is way cold for us. Especially since I'm near the Gulf of Mexico.

Rob- I hope your shopping experience was better than mine. I ran to the store after work to pick up a few things. It was NUTS. You would think we would be snowed in for weeks the way people were hoarding food. I've never seen it so crazy. But I got everything I went for so even though it was nuts, it was a successful trip.

JB- how was the rest of your afternoon? I hope the people acted better.

Well time to turn in. Nice not having or set me alarm. But we will have to make up this school day at some point.

Well I havent mailed my letter yet, woke up late this morning. .... grrrrrr

So now I have two alarms set. Lol

Well I broke down into tears today and that has been 3 or 4 days in the making. Bills got to me this month and started a fight between mom and I. So I cried about 5 minutes.

Now I feel better. Lol.

Dad feels better and thats all good

MissJD- I'm sorry you and your mother fought. Bills are evil. I fight with them each month.

Well so much for sleeping late. My eyes popped open at 4:45. I gave up and am having a cup of coffee. I will nap later.

All the news stations here are out and about waiting for the first sign of ice. I'm sure the news stations will be on all day reporting on our winter weather. I told y'all, we go nuts down here.

Good morning all ......

   No gizmo drive this morning .... instant coffee day - ugh!!!

   At 7am it was -13 degrees here with a wind chill of -32 degrees. Just pathetic!!! I got my food minimum vitals yesterday ... all quick and easy stuff! Oh yes, and for the first time in years, some Oreos!!!!

   My Spiriva and Advair weren't ready though - mistake at the docs office!

   Myself ..... how can a pharmacy be closed Saturday & Sunday? Crazy!

   Karen ..... found a card yesterday with a Happy Turtle on it!!!!

   Michele ..... my daughter and her BF are moving to Austin, TX in the next few months. I'm sure they'll be glad to see the 20's as real cold weather after spending most of their lives in the midwest.

   MissJD ...... it is about that time of month for the bills here too!!!!!

   UA ...... I miss your great and regular optimism - hope you're good!

Summary - this instant coffee sucks! Maybe I will go to DD after all.

Hey Michele .....

   I know Texas is a huge state .... and I've only been to Houstin many years ago for a National Builders Show - so I can't judge the rest of the state by that one long week-end in one city.

   My daughter tells me that there are some severe dog restrictions in Austin, Texas - from her recent research. She has or they have a german shepard/ pit bull mix that's only about 50-pounds .... and it doesn't look anything like a pit bull. 

   Several areas she's looked into even forbid german shepards. Would you know if that's an Austin thing ... or is the State very protective against any potentially dangerous breed?

   She read off a partial list of dogs not allowed where they are looking for an apartment or duplex, and some of dogs listed are pit bulls, german shepards, dobermans, husky's, akitas and ..... believe it or not dalmations!!!

   Just curious if there was some recent State problems with certain dogs or dog attacks.

Rob -

Many apartments and rental properties don't allow certain breeds of dogs. Pit bulls are usually number 1 on the list. I don't think it's just an Austin thing. I've heard it around here in Houston too.

I hope they are able to find a place.

Decided to not work today. A good thing, since I can barely breathe. You know how you take short shallow breaths when your lungs hurt? The really fun thing is changing levels, as the phlegm in the chest rolls around and makes itself known to all. It's a little better now-medication and a hot bath with Eucalyptus oil.

Need to go to GI this afternoon. Need to clean the kitchen. Should do laundry but not at all sure I can manage toting the baskets down and up stairs.

I'm not really the spiritual sort so this feels kind of awkward. Things here have hit a point that has me bottomed out. I don't want to go in details right now. Just suffice to say that every part of my life has been ruined. So , I'm struggling pretty hard. Any thoughts or prayers that I can just keep getting of bed would be good. I need whatever help is available.

Hugs, AV. Things just bite, sometimes.

Just got back from GI visit. She changed my medication from Asacol to Lialda, which is preferred by this insurer, but is practically the same. However, when I went to pick it up at the pharmacy, it was going to be 550$.

I did not have a panic attack at the pharmacy. I did not get the medication either. With the insurance, I am still spending all that I make on medical care. I have enough Asacol to get me through the weekend, so I can decide what to do.

Rob-Kaiser Permanente keeps everything, EVERYTHING, in house. All doctor's visit, records, tests, medications. It's one of the reasons I chose this insurer, so that tests and diagnoses don't get buried or lost, but the closed loop does have many deficits.

-sigh- Not sure how to approach this.

If the insurance company prefers it, you should only have a co-pay. I don't get it. I am sure you will get them to straighten this out so that you can get the medication that you need with just a co-pay. It would be very frustrating to me. You have been dealing with this for a long time. Now you get insurance and they don't want to pay??? I would be calling them to get it straightened out.

I am happy that you don't have a panic attack, but I could see where you would be very frustrated. I am proud of you for handling this so well. But it is time for them to pay the piper. Cough up that cash and pay for your medications. That is what they are for. I am sorry if this sounds like a rant. But I so wanted everything to work out well for you. No need to get upset, I will do that for you. Though I know it wont make anything better for you. And only make me act like a fool. LOL...

Keep hanging in there Myself... This will all work out. You shouldn't have to keep paying for this if you have insurance...

Thanks for your indignation, Karen. I appreciate it. I am going to look into my policy and see what the payments are. But not right now.

Somehow, I guess I was naive in thinking that insurance could help manage my health and money issues. I do have a deductible, so the fiscal pain will eventually end.

I was stupidly innocent. "Oh, insurance will make it better, and I can afford my medications!" See me, skipping down the mountain path with my hair in pigtails and birds twittering above my head.

I was just thinking about you and then I saw your post.

I'm is sorry things have bottomed out. I wish I could drive to you just to give you a great big hug.

Get out of that bed for your children. They are watching how you handle hardships. There are days I feel so incredibly low, but I keep going to show them a lesson- how to face adversity with a somewhat positive attitude.

Ya know what? You are a right to feel the way you do. But let us help you up.

I was thinking the other day how I used to handle conflict. I went to the bottle to drown my sorrows. Every night. It never worked. I'm not turning to the bottle this time and I'm proud for that one small thing. Believe me, I want to run and hide from the world with everything going on. Hell, I'm crying now as I type this. Things are bad, but they could be so much worse.

Don't give up. Stay as strong as you can. Let us help you.

Insurance companies have some of the biggest

It ain't fair ..... but it is the way it is!

Sick footnote: two years ago this month, I started my first oral chemo pill. That was 4-pills a day x 30-days a month = 120-pills

The cost for that first 30-days supply was $2600.00 after insurance coverage! The second month it came down to just under $1300.00 and by the third month it was ONLY $280.00 per month!

My meds for 2012 cost me just over $6000.00 after insurance coverage!

So much for Obamacare!

Geez! Rob, I'm sorry you all have to pay so much for healthcare and medication for health, booooo!

    I really wasn't complaining for myself. Actually .... "Myself" - the person - just got a nasty shot from her insurance company. It stinks .... the coverage sometimes stinks - and often people think or thought they were about to get a great government deal on insurance coverage.

   I was just trying to make a statement of futility!

   My medication costs for 2013 were closer to $1500.00 for the year .... so I can't complain. They came down a lot from 2012.

   And I would not complain about my healthcare costs. While I pay around $4500.00 per year in healthcare insurance ..... the chemo injections are more than that cost every three weeks - and it's covered by insurance. Only the oral chemo is not covered ... another government secret!!!!

   H.B. ....... do have a good week-end coming up!!!

Thanks, guys. I'm trying to pick myself up. I've literally lost everything , anything that was important to me is gone and changed. I still can't talk about it all. Every time I read your posts I just bawl. Sorry , I'm a mess.
