Welcome to the forum both of you!
Do you use coping skills on a daily basis? do you both see a therapist and are you on medication?
Coping skills seem to be the most powerful weapon for the sympton you are describing.
In our resource thread at the top of the forum there are 4 pages of helpful information from help sites to
skills sites and books.
I personally use CBT=cognitive behavorial therapy and DBT= dialectical behavorial therapy
I also use mindfulness and meditation as part of my daily life, it is wonderful to feel in control 95% of the time, even when the bottom drops out, I can pick it back up again with some work.
I urge you both to look into some of these skills.
