Hello All,

Just popping by from the UC forum:)
My doc prescribed 50mg of Prestiq. (Sp?)
I took one pill on Sunday night. All day yesterday I was a "space cadet." Couldn't concentrate, rapid heart beat, basically out of it. Last night I cut it down to 25ml and today my pupils are dilated, I feel agitated, unable to concentrate and still really feign like I'm not here.

Is this normal ? How long can I expect to feel like this? I don't think I can go another day.

OOPS... Did you cut a pill in half? Or did you take a 25mg pill??? If you cut the pill in half, you may have gotten too much medication at once causing the ill effects. I take pristiq. I take 100 mg a day.

Try taking it for a couple of weeks and see if the side effects don't go away. Please don't be cutting a pill, it isn't made to be taken that way. It is time released and cutting one gives you too much medication at a time.

I hope that the pristiq works for you. It has worked very well for me for a few years. I didn't have any side effects or spacy feelings though.

Do keep posting, it does help to have somebody to talk to. I don't know how many others are on pristiq, nobody has brought it up for discussion. I really hope that it works for you...

Thanks Karen! Yes I cut the pill in half. I'm not sure I can continue with it given how bad I feel.

I bet if you take your regular dose tomorrow that you will feel better. I think it was just the first time taking it, and the issue of cutting one in half. Try not to give up yet, try it one more day. Then let me know how it goes...

I take it at night. I'll go back to 50mg before bed & check in tomorrow. I'm skeptical, my thinking was the 50 was too high given my reaction yesterday.

I think that is the lowest that there is, but I could be wrong. Maybe pristiq isn't for you, but I don't think you will feel as spacy this time...

I am starting my third week today on 50 mg of Pristiq.After trying wellbutrin,cipralex and citalopram over a 7 month period i can finally start to see the light at the end of the tunnel.First couple of days i had light nausea but it passed.i feel better now than l have for many years .Give this drug a chance. A fellow Canadian.Good luck
