Daily Check In Thread For All!!! #75

   Thanks to those who commented on my last post. An explanation is needed though. I did not know Mark, a fellow advanced Prostate Cancer patient. I did get to know his wife to some degree thru the Prostate Cancer Forum, that similar to this forum, can make some very close relationships between people who likely will never even meet each other personally.

   Pat, Marks wife, read much of my thread called "My Journey with Jevtana" and I have been following Marks reduced progress thru her writing. Pat is such a wonderful human being, a good writer and so much in love with her husband ... it has always been a pleasure to read anything she writes because it comes so much from the heart. Even the worst of times!

   She writes on HW as "Dreamer 44" and has written so much on the Caregivers thread of the Prostate Cancer Forum. Her incredibly touching announcement of the loss of her husband on Monday of this week was on yesterdays morning post by her. It did more than move me. But when someone starts out by saying "RIP babe ... my love" .... it just tore me apart. Nasty things like this shouldn't happen to people like her - why so much hurt in this world?

   A few days before this, I found out that the Father of a daughter, HW named "chinki", had passed many months ago. "Chinki", the daughter, wrote me a post - and I hadn't seen her name for a few months. Her Father was one of the first cases I followed when I started on HW last June. 

   It has been an emotional day or two for me. Even though i have never met either of the above two, I think most of you on the Depression Forum can relate to what I am saying and feeling. Thanks!

   Good timing too ...... got a support group meeting this morning for reoccurring cancer.

   I must have woken up in a time warp! Is it April? It was 41 degrees here at 8am and very sunny. Gizzy seems to be a bit under the weather, but he did go for a ride - and we saw one really big Newfoundland - the size of a small black bear! What does it take to feed one of those???

   The support group meeting went pretty well yesterday. There were only four of us there plus the RN and the Sociologist - but all of us seemed to be in some kind of funk. The importance of maintaining a sense of purpose was one of our discussions. The depression of the long winter was another.

   Considering there were only four of us, four types of cancer were represented, and two of the four were women and two men. It's amazing how many concerns were common to us all with that kind of variation of people. It helps going thru this ... and one does not have to be outgoing to do it and gain some benefit.

   AV ...... way too kind of you. Although, I wish I could be a guardian angel to both of my daughters. You know what a Mothers love is all about. Sometimes, it's that way with a Father too! And writing on HW is at times a little selfish - because it makes me feel better!

   Hope all goes well with your kidney infection and/or hospital visit.

   MissJD ...... Pat is just one of many wives on that forum who have lost their true partner in life. It is a very strong group of women dealing with the most tragic losses for most - in their lifetimes. I actually started HW last June, and it was with the Prostate Cancer Forum first ... to research a med I was about to go on.

   JB1 ...... good luck to you with a new med even if it is thru your old doctor. Hope your insurance frustrations calm down - and things start moving a little more smoothly for you.

   Chart ...... wouldn't it be nice - if we could - use the edit button in real life!!!!

   Michele ...... I remember the day I sold my old wedding ring - although it was a few years after the divorce. It was about 80% relief that everything is done ...... and about 20% why did it happen!!! Of course, everything wasn't done - but the "out-of-site .... out-of-mind" thing does work pretty well .... even with kids in the picture! 

   Karen ...... I'm trying like hell to make you envious! WE WERE 41 DEGREES HERE - this morning! And ...... I only tease people I really like! Have a good one today.
