Daily Check In Thread For All!!! #75

   My buddy is sick. He didn't even want to get up to go for a ride this morning. It's beginning to look like December again when he had a kidney infection.

   He got into something either late Thursday or early Friday ..... just don't know what it was. I found some remnants of his vomitting this morning in the kitchen. And while he's drinkking water, he's not eating now - since early yesterday.

   Gotta to go to the hospital for a dressing change on my back - then pick-up some eggs. He liked my scrambled eggs last time he wouldn't eat dog food.

   Hey .... it's St. Pat's Day - a pretty big deal in Chicago. My step-father was buried on St. Pat's Day ... and he was 3/4 irish. So it's not exactly a happy time for me - but seeing Gizmo get better would make my day!

   Hope some of you get out and celebrate .... have some fun today!

   I have to say I'm not a big Woody Allen movie fan either - and have not seen Blue Jasmine. While, I guess, Woody Allen is the sort of sophisticated writer of some funny movies ... and Steve Martin is usually the goof of many funny movies, I do prefer Steve Martin by a long shot.

   There was just one movie I've seen of his where he played an absolutely straight part and he was one of the supporting actors too. It was called "Grand Canyon" with Kevin Kline in the lead role. It was a serious film with much of LA's problems of the 90's i think - some racial - and Steve Martin played a 100% straight part. So did Kline!

   Hope you enjoy the movie. I remember it - but I think my favorite of his was Parenthood ..... just incredibly funny and kind of real life too!

   What was that movie that he made that was about him playing the modern day Cyrano. The bar scene in that movie where he had to justify his huge nose to a red-neck or similar dufus .... was just hilarious crazy Steve Martin.

   Enjoy ....... and have a good laugh or two.

   A cold front came thru ..... but it's not nearly as cold as Karen seems to have it. It was 19 degrees out at 9:30am and with light flurries.

   Gizmo did not eat anything yesterday. He even turned his nose up on a liver sausage meatball. This morning, he showed some sign of interest in activity - but did not want to go for a ride.

   Late afternoon yesterday, he did go out with me for a long pee ... then almost seemed normal. I woke-up a few times thru the night and he was laying between my left leg and the back of the sofa - more like normal.

   I channel-flipped alot last night and caught most of the new series of "Resurrection" and "Believe". The end of "Resurrection" left me scratching my head - otherwise, at times pretty powerful. "Believe" might be interesting ... time will tell. They were the pilot episodes (re-run) for both series.

   AV ..... glad to hear the kidney problem may be under control. Don't mean to preach - but watch the caffeine intake. I don't think Sprite has any caffeine. I know Ginger Ale doesn't - so I usually have that around here all the time. It's nice as a break from water - especially if it's only one a day! 

   Myself ...... was "What You Always Wanted to Know about Sex But was Afraid to Ask" one of those formulaic Woody Allen examples?

   Karen ...... oh no - 2 degrees? Hey .... it's the middle of March! Hope Jasmine doesn't get frozen pee steams!!!!

   Michele ...... don't you just love computers? It took me 21-minutes to get on the internet this morning - and my daaughter thinks it's quicker than calling! By the way - my daughter and her BF did sign a lease on a house in Austin, TX last week. They should be moving down there on the 14th of April ..... lucky dudes! She already knows how important Stevie Ray Vaughn was in Austin. Now i tease her about the BBQ down there - because she dosen't eat meat!

   Happy Turtle ...... this may sound a little crazy, but would hypnosis be of any value for the nocturia?

   MissJD ...... hope all of your pain gets under control very soon. about Gizmo, my vet is closed from noon Saturday until 8am on Monday. The lady from the vet did tell me to bring him in Monday if he wasn't better. He seems more awake today ... so I've got an assortment of foods i can try today.

   I didn't feel much like celebrating last night - but i did finish a small jar of herring along with alot of water ... then 2-6oz. italian ice in a lemon flavor. It reminded me of Summer .... cool!!!!! Except the eating was not very nutricious (sp) but high in sodium!

   There were several episodes besides the one with Meridith that were studies in irony! The thick-glassed Meridith was one of the best of those characters though.

   The last one I remember seeing had Ed Gwynn playing the part of a penny-anty salesman in a slightly poor neighborhood. He was visited by someone (grimm reaper?) announcing that he would die that night - but the old salesman wanted to make one major sale before he died (the sale of a lifetime) - and he sort of out-foxed the grimm reaper. Remember that one?

   It was a classic series. Thanks for the brief visit down memory lane!
