LOL. I am too old-school, I guess. Coming up through theatre, actors are always taught to do nothing to your appearance that cannot be hidden. Piercings okay because they can be taken out, tattoos in hidden places okay, hair better at a medium-length, not too short or too long.
Going with a brownish-red to cover the Bride of Dracula streaks of grey in the front.
Which reminds me. When my dad died, I was doing a show that required me to dye my hair black. I look awful with black hair, BTW. My immediate family knew why, and that the show opened the following week, but family friends and more distant family decided I must be into 'something bad', because I my hair was black. And, of course, no one asked until after. By Christmas, my dye job had faded.
