Please do seek a counselor.
I drank heavily (although not to the point of passing out - except once) in the past. It is a serious concern - depression or not! And it is a depressant - so with depression, it just adds to your problems .... but I think you know that!
In my case, the drinking and the depression were not clearly related. My drinking had more to do with loneliness. My depression had more to do with fighting advanced cancer.
My closest uncle was an alcoholic and an AA member. His sister, my mother, was very likely what is called a functioning alcoholic ..... so I thought I was trapped!
Not so ......... I stopped smoking 3-1/2 years ago and my drinking dropped from 4 or 5 x a week - mostly beer .... to 3 or 4 x a month since 2011. And now, I rarely have more than one drink on any given day - 3 to 4 times a month.
Finding a counselor would be very helpful as a start. Please try!
