Salaries and benefits have gone crazy with professional baseball, basketball and football. Ever since the union B.S. in the 1980's, baseball has turned into a very greedy mans sport. Only those who are wealthy can consider watching many games each seaon ... can't imagine what a season ticket holder would pay.
I heard this week about some baseball team - very mediocre at best - has a very good player who has a contract for over $200.-million. And because of it, they cannot afford to bring any more good players in ... so they will remain a mediocre team - an with a high team salary.
Basketball has gotten crazy with some back-ups making $4. to 6.-million a year - and only play 8 to 10-minutes a game as the #8 or #9 player on the team.
Football is getting there ... although unlike basketball and baseball, each team does have a salary cap. And here again, when a team pays (most likely the QB) big bucks to one person, there are at least 24 other starters and close to 25 back-ups to pay.
It's got to be a nightmare for whoever is balancing those figures of salary and benefits in football.
A major problem:
More equity is needed in how people are paid in all three of those sports, but:
Name one union who ever agreed to a salary cut? Ain't gonna happen unless we become socialistic!
Texas (Chart):
Don't understand why that team was so bad last year with the talent they have. Unless they trade it, they do have the first pick in the draft!
Washington (Myself):
You know the fans very well there. Actually, for the fans it could suck - and for the player DJ, if it happens, it couldn't happen to a more deserving dude!
