Really struggling right now - Please help

Hi Everyone,

I am two weeks into taking Sertraline/Zoloft and apart from the odd brief spell of feeling stable, I dont feel any better, I am having really bad trouble just doing normal everyday things because my mind feels so cloudy and I dont feel with it at all.

I was hoping tablets would have started working by now but I am now starting to think that maybe this isnt depression and anxiety, maybe there is something really wrong with my mind and I am going to lose it? I still know right from wrong and I am not hearing or seeing things that are not there but I feel really groggy and out of it and I dont know if depression and anxiety can do that.

What if things get so bad that I just dont know what I am doing anymore or I cant get out of bed?

I really want to be normal again but I have honestly forgot what that felt like.

I dont think I can do this for another two weeks. I have a really strong feeling that codeine reacts with the Sertraline as there was a couple of days where I didnt take the codeine and I did show spells of feeling better so I have not had any since yesterday and going to see if there is any improvement.

I agree with getting by that you need to contact your doctor. They know so much about meds/med interactions, side effects, etc. Most antidepressants do take longer than just 2 weeks to start working. Maybe you'll be able to stay on the med, but at a lower dose or take longer to ramp up the dose.

Just because things happen in the same time period does nto mean they are connected.

You need to talk to your doctor about your concerns. A pharmacist can inform you about drug reactions and interactions.

Definitely talk to your doctor about the way you are feeling. Different things work for different people and this may just not work for you. Or, it may take just a bit longer. I personally was on Zoloft for 2 weeks and was so spaced out I actually had to think what a red light and a green light meant when driving as well as completely losing libido. I told my doc and she took me off immediately and we tried something else.

I guess what I am trying to say is your doctor will do whats best for you. Ju7st keep in touch with them. :)

Definitely get in to see your Dr as soon as possible and let him know, he'll probably either want to wait a while longer or just go ahead and change to another med.

I've been on so many antidpressant's but Wellbutrin has been the best for me, some others made me so spacey, out of it and generally feeling awful so we changed it.

You do have a say of course, my Dr always asked me if I wanted to go ahead and try something else.

For me, the meds kick in quickly, within a week-10 days.

It's hard to describe but I couldn't think properly, muddled thinking, felt like I was in some sort of dream even dizzy.

I hope you feel better soon, just replied to your other post too.

You can always try, plus the work environment may even help you to structure your life. Sometimes just a change helps. If you can't do it, you will still know you tried.
