How long did it take for Anti-Depressants to work for you???

Hi Everyone,

I am so grateful for this forum and for each and everyone of you that have taken the time to say comforting things and give advice so can I just say a big thank you to each and everyone of you for that and I do hope in the future I can give something back as soon as my mind is stable.

I am on day 15 of Zoloft/Sertraline 150mg per day and I still don't feel stable yet so I was just wondering what you're experiences were with anti-depressants and how long roughly until you felt stable on them if they worked at all?

I know they usually take between 2-6 weeks to work but I would really love to hear your stories thank you.

Meds work very quickly for me, started feeling better on the Wellbutrin within a week, then a lot better as time went by.

Other antidepressants made everything 10 times worse almost immediately so it just depends.

To give you an eg: after having very severe depression last summer, the Dr upped my med from 100 mg twice a day to 175 twice a day and within 2 days I could feel myself coming "up"

Hope you start to feel better, have you talked to your Dr?

Everyone is so different though, be sure to check in with your Dr about how you're feeling, this is very important.

The meds can take up to eight week to work. But they work fairly fast for me too.

Please try to b patient, keep your mind busy right now.

Hey Thundercloud,

How are you?

Yeah I had a rough start up on Sertraline but also came of Paxil quite quick so I should have seen that coming I guess.

I am taking 150 mg a day right now but last couple of days I have taken an extra 50 mg because I was on highest dose on Paxil so I figured I need highest dose on new one.

Wow going from 100 perday to 175 per day is a big jump but it made you feel much better right??

At first I did, and the change was gradual. Each day you will probably get a bit better.
