Hello ........
Finding happiness in simpler things is very good! In fact, that was part of the subject of talk in my support group this past week.
You said "you're over it all" with some of "your life experiences"! Not true! You're not over it all! You've buried them - but they'll always be there until you deal with them. A good talk therapist is likely the best way to bring out those hidden or buried things of the past - and to eventually put them to bed with the help of a professional.
And while self-help books can be great ... you cannot fix yourself! You have to first know what to fix. Then - how to fix! And what i just said was terribly over-simplified.
I once read a good book that gave me a lot of insight - right after serious relationship broke down. It really did help. Long before that, after a divorce with two daughters involved, I tried for a couple of years to "fix myself"! I failed! I missed alot!
I went to a therapist for over a year - over 20-sessions - and I got my own self-respect back. I was able to see how others influenced me in the past - including major family! I found I had a guilt complex - and saw how that developed - and by whom. It helped put so much into perspective for me!
If you can think of it as ............... you're not permanantly damaged, so seek some help.
Peace and wellness
