Upset

Yes I'm still up. I'm never up this late.

I had a special meal planned for lunch tomorrow for my daughter and I. Guess what? Change of plans on her part.

She informed me that she completely busy till Sunday and on that day the kids are going with their dad for a week.

She's never home. College starts soon and I won't see her then.

I realize that I truly lost her when she turned 16. Once she had a car and her job, she never was at home except to sleep.

And Saturday is her last day to work. She's got another thing coming if she thinks I'm funding her lunches and other things with her friends.

I just miss her already. My heart is just sad.

Thank you Heart. I'll survive this too. Guess it just really slapped me across the face tonight......

I know your heart is sad, I have 2 daughters in their early 20's, they are out on their own and they are always busy, busy, busy...sometimes we make plans and then at the last minute it's...."Mom, I'm sorry, can't get over there today.." and even though of course I understand my heart flips and I miss them.

When they were around 16-17 I hardly saw them, between school and friends, they also only just seemed to sleep here, I do remember feeling a bit lost.

I truly know what the empty nest syndrome feels like!! We'd do everything together and had fun but then I felt as though I'd completely lost them, never to be seen again....but it's just a step in life.

I am sure your daughter doesn't know how this makes you feel, I do, absolutely, but I just don't think they do as they are coming from a different angle to us.

I really feel for you, it does hurt your heart, hope you feel better, big hugs....

What's even crappier is that she came home last night at 1 am, which was fine, I knew where she was and who she was with. But she didn't even say hi. It was on my mind so much last night that I didn't get to sleep until 4 am. (Karen, isn't that when you get up? Lol!).

So anyway, she just got up and she's griping to me because she's so tired. Well duh!! Just pisses me off.

I know this too shall pass. But I cried myself to sleep.....I guess it helps when she's a toot- I'll help her pack!! Lol!!

I think at her age, people are so into themselves, wrapped up in school, work, discovering life. I think that they become oblivious to parents at that point. But as someone posted above, it is a phase that doesn't last. Though everybody is different.

There is going to be a time when she will be calling you about everything. She wont admit that now, but it will happen. When we have to start growing up, being responsible and facing daily trials. "what do I do now mom?". So hang in there. It will get better. She has to learn for her self what becomes a priority in life for her.

I am sure this is tough. But take it one day at a time. Try to let her grow up, easier said than done...

Yes, I was up at 4:00. Actually 3:00. Could not sleep. Funny thing is even though it is a long day, I don't really want to go to bed early. Though I am usually dragging at that time. I just hope I don't wake up any earlier than this. Would love to sleep in until about 7:00 or so...

I think you need to have a talk. Tell her that you miss her and would like her to set aside time so you can spend time with her before college. You have every right to make that request.

I cant imagine what I will do when the kids leave. Ill be a mess so you're already doing better than I could. She will always be your baby, no matter what!
