Hi All, Newbie Here!

Hi everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself here. I was just diagnosed with depression recently, although after learning more about it, I have likely been dealing with it for quite a while. I have ADHD and have been taking Wellbutrin for about 2 years along with adderall. The Wellbutrin wasn't really effective so at my recent visit I brought that up with my doc. One thing led to another and she prescribed lexapro and stopped the Wellbutrin. I also asked her to refer me to a therapist, who I'm seeing next week.

I'm looking forward to taking steps in the right direction and starting to move forward with all this.

This seems like a great community and I look forward to getting to know you all.

I think it's great that you're taking steps in the right direction and you're moving forward with your treatment. That's a great plan. Welcome to the forum!

I also used the generic of Lexapro twice. Once was ok (got it from CostCo). The other through Kaiser made me worse, very very bad. So I just started to take the brand name last week again. Hope it has positive effects because the other two drugs I am taking are not cutting it.

I am on the generic Lexapro, and just took my first half dose of 5 mg today. My doc is starting me slow because I had a heck of a time with going on Wellbutrin. I never could get on the xl, I took it for two days and it gave me a panic attack, the only one I've ever had, among other difficult side effects. I didn't really notice any negative effects of the first dose of lex today, would I feel side effect right away, or does that take a few days? I do feel a lot better overall, but I think that's just finally getting the wellbutrin out of my system, and I'm guessing the placebo effect of starting something new. Anyway, it feels good to have a plan and have support.

Hawk, I read your other thread, and sometimes the only thing that would get me out of the apartment, other than work, is my dog. We have no yard, and he is a young high energy breed, and so I had to get him out, even when I didn't want to move. He really has been a Godsend in the last year.

3 months ago I started to take the generic. I had taken it about a year ago without problems. However those pills were from CostCo. These where from Kaiser hospital. After 3 half pills over 3 days, I became worse and very anxious. It was the worst I have ever been. I stopped right away. I have read that the generics can do that. Which is crazy that its so different. Make sure you monitor yourself and stop if you feel any negative effects.

I am back on name brand lexapro and testing if this has positive effects on my depression. I had taken it on and off of years.

My husband was getting a pink Adderall that did nothing. He gets brand name now. My insurance will only pay for brand name Adderall xr.

I will definitely follow the new thread you start! What dose of adderall do you take? I have been on it for a few years now and still only take a 10 mg dose at a time (I split a 20 mg pill in half), usually twice a day. If I take too much, it makes me feel jittery, but completely zoned out. The generic that works well for me are orange ovals, I've gotten the pink ones, and it feels like I may as well not even take them! They have no effect.

I believe that the pink ones are made in Isreal. I think that is what the pharmacist said. I find the orange oval (or football) shape work the best too. I take the Adderall xr now. I take 30mg a day. My husband takes the immediate release and takes 30 in the morning and 30 in the afternoon.

The brand name I take is "shire". It seems to be the best. I have to take it for adhd now. But it helps with fatigue a lot.

You might need an increase in time, but if 10 is working for you, that is awesome!!!
