Here we go with a brand new thread!!! I hope everybody had a good day. It was nice here. Around 70. Sunny and not too hot.

We had steaks, potatoes and asparagus on the grill tonight. It was delish!!!

Now to read some more threads and then relax and watch tv...

JB, having a routine helps me. Its comforting. I hope it helps you.

Rob, I have seen that movie. I tend to be drawn to masculine features. Strong jaw etc. I like Jason Statham and Alexander Skaarsgard (drool). So dreamy. Lol

Mom called and I was telling her that I didn't understand how my arthritis could be this bad when I've only had the pain for 3 years or so. She said that I've always had arthritis in my back. She said a pediatric rheumatologist told her that I have arthritis everywhere when I was 12. She didn't tell me because she didn't want me to feel different from other kids... I shouldnt be surprised.

Rob- yay on the support group!! I'm glad the AC miraculously started working again! Yay! Give that sweet, innocent Gizmo a hug for me!

JB- hang in there. I'm sorry things are confusing right now. I hope you can get in soon to see the doc.

AV- MOTHERS! Enough said!! Glad your appt went well.

I'm cooking sour cream chicken enchiladas for dinner. My recipe makes so much and Steven won't eat a lot. I invited my neighbor over!! Lol! Rob, want me to send some your way?

Rob: I'm glad that your support group went well today and also that your air conditioner is working again.

Michele: Your supper sounds like it was good. I hope you had a good time with your neighbor.

AV: I'm sorry you have been in so much pain with your back.

Karen: Hi. Your supper sounded good as well.

I'm going to try to go to sleep in a few moments but I wanted to post first. My day today wasn't the best. My 19 year old daughter suffers from depression too, and also has anorexia. She is currently in an outpatient treatment program for the anorexia and we found out today that they are moving her to a higher level of care - which is one with more therapy and greater intensity. This meant she had to quit her new job and she is crushed. I'm just numb because it seems like this nightmare will never end. I just want her to get well again.

Also, thank you Michele and Karen to your replies to my post 2 nights ago. I am giving myself until Monday morning to investigate free/discounted lawyers. After that I will start to make phone calls. I'm just praying that I won't have to ask my parents for help again.

Well I guess this is it. I need to get up for work early tomorrow morning. I hope everybody here has a good day.

Rob, I certainly do know how you feel about support groups. It is great when it is a slow night and just the core members show up at the one I go to. We all let loose, no judgements.

JB sorry you are confused, we have all been there. Good for you for taking the steps need to get back in control. Some of us, just can not go off the meds. Peace.

Almost midnight, company has left, John and I are relaxing in our chairs and hounds are passed out on the floor. Hot tea and I am turning in.

Cassandra, try to look at it as her getting the help she needs. Know she is disappointed but her health must come first. Things will get better just be patient.

Good morning ........

   Got a fairly early appointment at the hospital - just an echo cardiogram though.

   Trina ....... yep, when a support group does work, it's wonderful ... such a freeing experience. I'm a little concerned that two people weren't there - a man with esophigal cancer and a woman with kidney cancer. The three of us that were there though - it was like we were brother/sisters! At least what i picture as a bro/sis relationship - since I'm an only child!

   Cass ........ sorry about your daughter. It's one of the times a parent can feel helpless - when they can't just reach out and make it better. And I'm sorry I had no advice to give regarding your finances - hope your expectations are better.

   Michele ........ the Gremlins are back in my house! But then with Gizmo, they had never left! My A/C is not working again ... and no, I'm not smoking anything. Thanks for the offer but right now, I don't know what i could eat. It ain't gettin better!

   AV ......... it's so sad to just know that there is such a thing as a pediatric rheumatologist. You deserve a big hug from Bruce Willis!!!!

   JB1 ......... good to see you write. Gere, in that movie, was an all-time jerk (G-rating name-calling) but it was a good character study too - even though the character was an ass (PG-13)! Hope your on your way to getting more comfortable with some of lifes twists.

   Karen ........ even grilled steak doesn't sound so great to me right now. Although, the smell would be nice.

Notes:

   Bad day eating yesterday - but the fruit smoothie did seem to give me some energy for awhile.

   I got a call from my oldest daughter yesterday ... she needed something and never asked about my cancer status!

   I got an e-mail from my youngest daughter this morning ... she sent me some dog photos to make me feel better. They were from an Austin dog rescue group she is joining ... and the photos were of a Black and Tan Hound - that sings! She said it reminded her of Gizmo!

I am sorry Rob that your oldest daughter called again when needing something. I just ended a friendship (sort of) because of that. It was all one sided. Though I can do that, you can't necessarily do so. It is your daughter, but it hurts none the less. But know that doesn't mean she doesn't care, I think she is just being self centered. Which is normal. But not nice... I hope she doesn't have to learn the hard way...

It is nice here today. The sun is out and the skies are blue. Not going to be hot. But they said next week could be 25 degrees colder than normal. I just hope it doesn't frost my garden. We have put a lot of work into it.

Need to go to town today and pick up a couple of prescriptions. And bread. Something I always forget.

Hope everybody has a good day today. Rob, I hope you get your appetite back... I worry when you don't eat. We all do...

Good Morning Everyone,

It's been raining here since Wednesday night. High pain level for me. Neck still hurts. Rain just made my knees start aching. I'm glad it raining though. When it's finish, the pain in my knee will stop.

Been moody lately as well. BF and I have been fighting a lot lately.

Well, today's my last day at work. I'm taking a week vacation. Lots of stuff to finish up. I have a flyer to design still. Been trying to get some 'designing-motivation' to start this but non yet.

Karen: I was here yesterday briefly. High pain level and was a bit moody. Sounds like a nice day by you.

Rob: I hope you feel better soon. Hope the echo goes well today.

Cass: I'm sorry about your daughter. I hope the treatment will help and hope you have a good day today.

Good morning all. Today is sunny and clear skies. Got my run in last night and an easy bike ride this morning. Did lie down afterwards, but the anxiety seems a little bester. Need to push myself forward. I have a follow up with the doc next week and called my therapist whom I haven't seen in a while to setup an appointment. Hopefully this is just a temporary setback.

To everyone suffering just remember, we are still here fighting the good fight and make sure to remember your blessings and all the things you "get to" do.

Reading a good little book again "God Never Blinks: 50 Lessons for Life's Little Detours". Hopefully some of the words of wisdom will help pull me through. I suggest checking it out some time.

Hi Jmp1969,

Thanks for checking in!!! I am glad you are going to see the therapist again. I think therapy really does help. I have been going for years. I only go every other month now.

We do have to look at the positives in life, even if they are small... It is all good...

Keep posting, I love to hear from all of you. We all do...

   JB1 ....... I used to think what you just said - that she was afraid of facing the fact i have cancer - and her way of dealing with it was just ignoring it! You know - ignore it and it'll go away!

   But, that isn't how it is. She is ignoring her own sister. She hadn't spoken to my mother (her grandmother) for 16-years. And her own mother - is exactly that type of person - self-centered and not able to get close with many people - or anyone!

   By the way, I checked my Leonard Maltin book on movies - and I think the movie "An Officer and a Gentleman" was one of Debra Wingers first movies and did have Lou Gossett playing a great role as a drill sergeant. And the song from that movie won an Oscar that year.

   Wishing you better luck on working front!

   UA ........ I missed you earlier - hope you're feeling better - and make some good use of a week of vacation time.

   Karen ....... my little one, in Austin, is getting into a dog shelter group - a local one there that tends to take in and protect pit bulls - and a few other of the powerful breeds. She's been in Austin for about 3-months now, and really doesn't have any new friends from there. She's very social ... so that's beginning to bother her. She put's a lot of time into work ... but she needs to be around people for leisure things.

Notes:

   The echo cardiogram was interesting. It's really a type or form of ultrasound, and it was longer than i thought it would be. I found out that I do have a sore spot on my ribcage. That sucker hurt when she pushed down hard on the hand-held camera.

   It felt like a bruised rib, but i don't have one. So ... it must have been the part of my rib that has cancer. Of course, i won't know the results until next week - and all I need is for it to be acceptable in order to start the next chemo. Hey ...... that ultra-sound goop is no longer cold!~!!!! Yay!!!!

JAMIE-I LIKE THE MOUNTAINS AS WELL, BUT PREFER THE PYRENEES. THEY ARE SO MUCH MORE BLEAK AND ROCKY. LAST NIGHTS STAGE WAS KILLER... SO MANY CRASHES. I WONDER WHAT WAS UP WITH MOVISTAR LEAVING OUT THAT LITTLE COLUMBIAN CLIMBER NAIRO QUINTANO THIS YEAR. SERIOUSLY, HE SNAGGED PODIUM LAST YEAR, AND THIS YEAR SENT TO THE GIRO?

It is so great to have found this forum and see how you support each other. I hope I can be a part of this to not only get through my struggle, but help others in need. I figure the team approach works, that we can be better together than apart.

Rob: When I moved to my new city, I used a website called www.meetup.com to help find activities where I could meet people. You can search activities and with no commitment, join the ones you are interested in. Helped meet some nice people and do some of the things I enjoyed doing. (side note: I wish I had the energy to do more of this now. Its hard to do things with people for fear I will discuss my depression or mental health issues and be judged)

JMP: I wish I could get myself to do a bike ride and a run. Great job! Thats awesome!

User: Good luck with the knee, hope that when the rain stops, it will feel better. Also wishing you motivation on the design process. Also take things one step at a time with the BF. Good communication, understanding, and compassion can help lead to a place where both of you are better.

Hawkeye: Try small steps. Take a walk or stroll. Start small. Ride for 20 minutes or run for 20 minutes. Sign up for a 5K! That'll make you train. Find a running group. Local running shops can help. Just Get Up an Move!

All: I am following my own advice. This what I GOT TO DO today:

Ride a bike
Spend time with my daughters
Play in the pool
Talk to an old friend
Try and give some sage advice
Read a book
Get out of bed
Eat well
Watch my daughter dive
See others laugh and let loose and remind myself that I can too!

Good evening good morning where ever u r !

First on the movie actors/ movies I luv Winger..haven't seen much of her. Lately. Right now I'm watchin a new series on cable cowboy, GEE WHAT A SURPRISE type mystery modern day sheriff/ cop
Western frontier no horses broncos the 4 wheel kind.. The actor is from Australia the tall lanky rugged type.. U know ladies.. Right.. Put's Gere way out of the race.

The weather was 80 & a nice cloud cover and the mist pouring over us from the the huge 150' Doug trees, shading us cleansing the air.

The tractor was my set of wheels this afternoon. Walking on bumpy pasture landscape with gopher holes is a recipe for disaster. Iv fallen on my share of gopher holes disguised by high grass wrangling gophers .

Karen : I am picture driven, pictures help me focus , think differently find peace., inspiration and keep my outlook sharp and takes me away from pain. Mindfulness ? Meditation !

Chelel aka Mustang I like UR new name. Any reference for how u decided on UR name?
I'll change my name in a flash if it helps me thru the next phase of surgeries.

Myself: hope u get some rest..

UA: hope UR neck and knees r better soon. The rain does that to me too! I live where it rains over 125" a year. That's why so many trees trees in the NW.UR next Xmas tree could be from the NW.or my backyard.

Rob:the rib thing has me worried & only good news coming on the ultra sound . I hate that goop. I have a hand held ultra sound for home use great for joints...it's that goo it's well...yukky!

JB1: Make lavender soap. Stop at a herb shop & pic up a bottle of Lavender essential oil . Great aroma therapy add a leaf or flower on the top see thru layer.. Pretttty! ..

HT: its night time in the US Even though this time of year it stays light until past 9 PM up here. Hope UR sleeping better...no storms . Hi Buttons.

Cass: u have a lot on ur plate,it's so hard to watch our children suffer. We'd do anything to take away their pain mom's just have that built in their DNA.

AV: heard something bout pediatric rheumatologist. I hope not on of UR children. I've had arthritis since a teen it never stopped me and there r good docs today &with better meds.

Trina: benot ...Afraid .. I always thats a good motto.

Good morning .....

   A muggy one here today - with a little rain this morning and heavy storms tonight! Still beats last Winter by acres ... or whatever!

   Chotti ......... 125" of rain a year? I thought, when we lived in Florida for 9-years, we got a lot of rainfall!!! And the North exposures of the roofs always got mildew ... and the palmetto bugs would somehow find a way inside the house when it was either extreme heat or rain. Those fun days!!!

   JB1 ...... "An Officer and a Gentleman" only received an oscar for the music - and it was very memorable.

   You got me started on films. A few years ago I saw a little film on one of the Encore channels (no commercials) and last night it was on BBC. It is a surprisingly good film ... somewhat savage ... no english but with subtitles - and something of a period piece.

   I've always been a little fascinated by the Mayan culture - and this film is a down and dirty version of that culture. It's called "Apocalyptis" and it's about the savagry of one tribe of Mayans vs the family and traditional lives of another tribe and of them clashing. It does get explicit graphically ... but impresses me with it's honesty - if you will.

   There is some symbolism - especially with the Jaguar. There was a film from the late 50's with Cornel Wilde - called "The Naked Prey"! But this is a better film and has much to do with the strong values of the Myan culture of maybe the 1600's! 

   Thanks for your thoughts about the ribcage - but see below!

Notes:

   I have only written this to maybe two people here via e-mails - but, my cancer has been pretty much the same for over two years. In fact, catscans that go back to 3+ years ago show that the cancer was in my liver, adrenal glands, one lymph node, my ribcage and was blocking both kidneys. Only recently has a tumor appeared in the pelvic area. All of the other areas have been that way for a couple of years. So - nothing immediate is expected to happen. And all of the cancer is the slower growing prostate cancer - not liver or bone cancer, etc.!!!

   So, it's not panic time or anything like that. Except for eating. I had two pounds of cut-up watermelon for dinner - good but high in potassium (not good for me)! That's my big concern right now. I'm losing energy big time!

   Got a date ....... with a hospital nurse! Exciting - huh? It's just my weekly dressing change - related to my kidney problems.

   Stay cool today ....... except the Turtle!

Going strawberry picking today I think. It is lovely out at this moment. Not too hot yet. And sunny.

The weatherman said next week could be 25 degrees below normal. What is up with this summer? Though I do like it on the cooler side. That way I can still do stuff outside.

Karen: Have fun picking strawberries. I love strawberries but we don't eat them often. It's expensive here.

Rob: I'm sorry about your appetite and energy levels. I hope things will get better.

Chotti: Thanks. We have the rainy season for 6 months here (June to Dec). Approx 30 houses experienced damages with the bad weather we experienced Thur and Fri.

JB: Have fun with the pottery class.

Hawk: Thank you for the kind words. I agree that good communication, understanding, and compassion can lead to a better relationship but it's probably what we're lacking. I'm trying to work on it from my side.

Michele, Myself: Hope you're doing okay.

Another cold and rainy day today. I think full moon is today or tomorrow. Maybe that's what causing the bad weather. Hopefully we should get some sun next week and my pain will go away.
I have to go to a wedding tomorrow. My school friend brother is getting married. This also happens to be my bf's cousin. We may go together. I look horrible. I'm going to get my hair and eyebrows done today. Hopefully this will make me look a bit better and presentable to go to the wedding.

I'm also grocery shopping. I haven't done major grocery shopping for quite some time. I'll be out with my mom and sister today.
Hope the rain eases up for us to go.
