Sometimes we are fighting two different things, depression and anxiety. I see your point about not wanting side effects and having to take something for that too. If you saw my pill box, you would freak, I take so many different medications that it isn't funny. I take three meds for mental health alone. Two for pain, chloresterol, diabetes, blood sugar, blood pressure and multivitamins and supplements. And I probably forgot something.
I take Xanax for anxiety but trying to go off and fight it on my own. IT isn't easy. But I have come down from four whole milligrams to one. So that is an accomplishment.
I really hope you find what works for you. Meditation and mindfulness fight anxiety. You might want to look into that...
