Hi!
My name is Michele and I have 2 kids. I have 2 more years with one at home with me and my other is leaving in two weeks. So I'm not a total empty nester yet. But I've been struggling with my daughter leaving.
For 4 years, I was a wife. Then the next 20 years, I've been a mom. I haven't defined myself by me and my likes, hobbies, passions, for 24 years.
I totally agree with you- we are proud of our kids and we've raised them to start there own lives.
I think that time will help. Give yourself permission to grieve a little. Then pick yourself up and do new things. They don't have to be earth shattering. Maybe it's learning a new language, volunteering at the local library or animal shelter, or take a cooking class. This is YOUR time in your life.
Does any of this help?
I do agree recently my last one just moved out of the house for college
and it does feel different but mother and I are learning to enjoy
our time together.
