reducing dose of Buproprion SR

I began buproprion SR 100 mg 2 x a day about 2 yrs ago, prescribed by a psychiatrist. about six months' ago, she increased it to 150 mg SR, 2 x a day. I also take alprazolam, 0.25, 4 a day. I have noticed in the past few months I am losing my hair and the hair I have is becoming very thin. My stylist said the hair shaft at the root is thick and as it grows out, it is very thin. She said this could be due to meds and I read that antidepressants and anti anxiety meds can cause hair loss. This is really upsetting me. My psychiatrist is out of the country until the end of September. I have been doing much better, in terms of depression and anxiety and so I decided to reduce the buproprion by only taking one pill a day, 150 mg SR and reducing alprazolam down to 3 a day. I began this about 4 days ago and so far, so good. Wondering if anyone else has taken matters in their own hands?
