Anyone Taken Viibryd??

I posted this question on the anxiety forum as well the other day.
The reviews (by patients themselves!) seem to lean more to the negative than the positive and the negatives are pretty dark!!!!shakehead
I am afraid b/c my N/P has switched me from prozac to Vibryd, as the prozac is not addressing all my anxiety issues, even with gabapentin and buspar along for the ride. So far, medicaid has refused to okay this AD, but that doesn't mean they won't decide to okay it soon. Frankly, I am deeply concerned about this medication! I'm seriously considering calling the nurse on Monday and tell her to tell the NP that I'm scared of this drug! skull

You really can't go by what other people say as we are all different. We all react differently to medications. The best thing that you can do is try it. If it is not for you, go on to something else. I hope that it works good for you...

Hi, Karen,
I realize that every patient is different and thus one drug may do great for one but not for another. Wellbutrin was terrible for me!
Anyway, Viibryd is a fairly new drug compared to many, yet I read review after review by patients and the stories sound the same! Scary stuff! I kid you not! Maybe for every good review there are 5-6 bad ones!
I am so torn it is amazing!

It gets scary when we read bad stuff about medication and we are suppose to try it. I went through the same thing. I am on one that I was so scared to start, but it turned out okay,. Now I am scared to stop, but that will be a bit down the road. Give it a shot, or find one that isn't talked about so bad. I think that there are threads on it here, maybe you could find one, I will look too.

I am taking Viibryd. You can read more about it under my thread "meds switch". I'm not sure which negative side effects are scaring you, but I can tell you that i've never had the sleep paralysis, or nightmares that I've read about. I do take my dosage in the morning and lunch. I've split up the 40 mg, to see if it makes a difference in the heightened anxiety I experience about an hour after taking it (heart palpitations and RLS, neither one is too bad).

Last Saturday was my 6 week mark on Viibryd. 1 week on 10mg, 1 week on 20mg, then 40 for the last four weeks. Before Viibryd i was on lexapro but the doctor thinks it stopped working for me. He prescribed Viibryd along with abilfy 1mg and I take 1mg clonozopan to sleep, but I had insomnia before I started Viibryd.

My first few days I felt a little sedated but the 2nd and 3rd week i started feeling a lot better, then it went down again around my pms, and has been up and down since then, so I'm realizing that my hormones have a lot to do with my ups and downs because I even feel down right after I ovulate, when estrogen drops. I've had a good number of good days (where i felt totally normal), some bad days (weepy, anxious, almost always related to hormones), and mostly slightly above average days, like a 6 our of 10.

So I'm not all the way there, but I'm going to give this medicine some time unlike how I quit lexapro after 7 weeks because I had a bad day and thought it wasn't working.

In terms of tips, I'm sure you already know you have to take viibryd with food, (not just snack, but a meal) because it works better that way plus it helps with potential GI issues, although i never had any.

The only side effects I've had are slight heart palpitations, and restless legs, and some sexual dysfunction. I have not gained any weight, I'm eating healthy, working out, but the side effects i do have, have not gone away, just subsided a little. And they did increase with each dose increase.

Good luck to you and let me know if you have specific symptoms you are worried about. Hope that helps a little. I was really scared to go on it because of all the stuff i read too.

Thank you, Keaz. Medicaid has not approved it thus far. i am still on prozac. I called the clinic to ask my NP to add abilify to my prozac rather than take Viibryd, but so far, I've got no response.

Janet- you might also ask them about Deplin. It's a prescription of folic acid. Keaz was precribed it, as was I. It helps depression and is natural even though it's an rx. I'm starting it tonight.

Let us know when the nurse calls back and what they're gonna do. Hang in there girl. This will get settled and we are here for you!

Lisa, I think like you i may be going through early premenopause (at 37??)..I've never had pms affects me so badly, and i went from having a 30 day cycle, to 28, to 27, and now 24.

I think that if not for all the hormones, I would be doing quite well on viibryd. It's like i can feel it trying to work through all the hormones. And when I'm not dealing with ovulation or pms, i feel almost normal most days.

I have hope that as the cycles go by and the viibryd kicks in fully (only been 6 weeks), the pms will lessen.

Thank you, Lisa! I will definitely look into Deplin! I'm doing some research tonight so I can go in prepared tomorrow when I see the NP!

I do not know if medicaid will cover Deplin...it sounds awesome, but I don't think FL medicaid will cover it! :(
