Hi gang.... thanks for the invite to post, and 'thinking' of me. That must have been what woke me up the other night!
Still hanging in there. Seems like every day there's another 'thing' to tackle. But we're surviving.
John's cancers are still in remission (hooray)...now he's dealing with diabetes and blood clot. My conditions are severe rotator cuff pain (went to PT yesterday...bah!) and cataract surgery needed. Seeing my Optometrist this afternoon. It's been FOUR years. about
time.
Of course, I lurk here (when the computer is working). Always enjoy following the events....the good, the bad...and the sometimes ugly, with you special friends. Miss y'all
TTY later

Good post Jaime-
I've noticed the forum has slowed down a bit too. I've mostly been in the anxiety forum lately but I always check here too.
We are missing Jan too. I've reached out to her by email & she's hanging in there- has been away to Mayo etc for much medical testing but said she'd return here once home.
Come back folks and at least check in with us- we miss you!
Sending everyone much peace and love-
Lisa

Joyce,
I had been told two years ago that I had a cataract starting in my left eye. Now it is like there is something in it, but I don't feel anything. Just a little blur spot in the middle that moves when I turn my eye. Is that like a cataract? Just wondering... Thought I might have something in the back of my eye because it moves the opposite way of whichever I turn my eye.
I am glad things are still good sounding. I am glad your hubby is still in remission. Thanks for posting, it is one day at a time with me.
Thanks Jamie for posting this thread... I wasn't on earlier. Seems I missed a bunch...
Hugs, Karen...

Thank you Joyce. I appreciate you doing this for me...
I hate glaucoma tests. I hate the drops and afterwards the light bothers me.
Take care and have a good evening. I have got to start supper soon myself...
dehydrating some apple slices for my dog. I did sweet potato the other day. She seems to really like them. I think she will like the apples too. She likes banana chips and carrot slices.
Hugs, Karen...

I have been thinking the same Jamie. I have been missing a lot of our regulars. AV has been on my mind a lot lately. I hope everything is okay. I know the troubles that she has but do miss her posts.

Hi Karen.
Yes, your 'cloudy' vision sounds like what I've been experiencing.
My first eye (the right) was done almost ten years ago. I had no obvious 'symptoms' at the time.
My left eye has been getting more and more dim over the years. If I'm in a dark room ...cover my good eye...and look out into a room that is light, I can see a black shape on that affected eye. Not just cloudy...a black blob.
The descript
ion you posted sounds so much like when mine started. It got more and more 'cloudy' with time....and eventually I could no longer read. SO, it's probably longer than I should have waited...but time to have it 'fixed'.
I'll be meeting with surgeon on November 11th. Not sure when surgery will be scheduled. I've decided to go with what is called 'monovision'. My first (right) eye now sees distance. The soon to be repaired (left) eye will have a lens for close viewing.
Hope you look into the option, Karen. If there's anything more I can answer...let me know.
Joyce

had surgery on my left joyce. vitrectomy. have had 2 years of laser on both eyes, incl intra-ocular injections. i have glasses as of 2 weeks now joyce. left lens. right eye is blown, right lens is just for balance. my short vision has come about
by (possibly) a small cataract at the back of the eye. eye specialist said this is most likely been caused by the amount of laser it has had. sorry, was talking about
my peeps because of yours joyce.
i hope your consult goes well. let us know. it is great to see you post back on the forum. we are still here!!!!!!! hope i am racking up frequent flyer points or something!!!! love ya joyce.

Hey Joyce,
Thanks for the information. I do believe that is what is going on. What is the surgery like??
Sorry for so many questions, just a little scared right now. And unsure... I Know I will need it though. Do they put you to sleep?
I hope you have a good shift at work. Are you making the life like figures still? I thought that was so cool!!!
Hugs to everybody...

Karen...here are a few replies on the subject from 'another' chat room. Hope it's OK to post them.
Gotta run, see you this afternoon
----
The cataract in my eye will be removed on Nov. 11th. Until then I will feel unbalanced. My left eye is so clear and sees bright colors, while the right eye seems like it has a dirty smear over it.
Just shows how much clarity I lost in my eyes over the years. Can't wait to have the right eye cleared up. Has anybody else had cataract surgery recently? It is an interesting procedure.
---
I had it done a year ago - and felt like you did. It's hard to believe how bad my vision was before the surgery. Wish my hearing would clear up as well as my eyes.
---
Just had both eyes done...right one in July...left one in Aug. Absolutely no pain at all. You will be amazed at how much better you can see. I do wear glasses, but no problem...I've worn them since I was 18 yrs. old and they are just a part of me. I feel naked without them.
----
I didn't even know I needed mine done....WOW, it was amazing....the results as well as the procedure. A retinal specialist did mine and as soon as he was thru he said to go out to lunch and a movie ! Can you imagine ? My mom was flat on her back in bed for days after having hers done back in the late 60's. After the first, I could hardly wait the two weeks to have the other done. Totally painless.
----
Totally painless surgery. The worse part is all the eye drops you need before and after surgery. I could never see good distances before. Now I don't need glasses to watch/ see TV. I chose to wear glasses afterwards, because of not seeing the best close up. Like the dashboard of the car or threading a needle. Or reading up close. I also felt naked without wearing glasses, since I have had them since 3 rd grade......... The doctor told me it is best to have both eyes done close together, or your brain gets confused with the two eyes being so different, and I think he was right. Having one eye seeing clearly at a distance and the other one not, got on my nerves. Once I had the second surgery, I got new glasses after my final checkup. ...I didn't have dark spots, just very cloudy, foggy vision before surgery. The first clue I had was having a hard time to read street signs on the right side of the road. ( Like North Avenue, or Main Street......)
----
It's really not a big deal...you do use drops before & after. I had both eyes done a year or 2 ago. A previous surgery had been 30+ years before so I'm reluctant to have any kind of surgery. Vision improved but colors never seemed 'murky' before....vision was blurry & it was hard to read street signs...colors didn't seem sharper afterwards but I could certainly see better.
----
I also had both mine done about
two years ago. The two surgeries were done about
3 weeks apart. It was very easy and I had no complications. I chose not to have any special work done, and still wear glasses, but that was my choice. My good friend, had the one close eye and one distance eye done and loves it. One year later the same surgeon did two procedures on our grandsons eyes and he doesn't need glasses anymore. Like his mom..he was extremely nearsighted.
