Loss of a pet

OMG! I'm so sorry for your loss. I've been through losses of a couple of pets that were extremely difficult for me. I think it's "normal" to cry a lot and feel bad. I could hardly function when I lost my cat that I had for 13 years. That is too bad that he had to linger but at least he knew you were there for him. Don't beat yourself up over not having the money to put him down. Allow yourself time to grieve.

I'm sorry I don't really know what to tell you that is positive to do.. but I hear you and I totally understand where you are coming from. Hang in there!

What about getting another kitten? Don't blame yourself, it is very hard to lose a pet. I am a dog person and I have lost many. It never gets any easier. But go with the flow, cry, get it out. Grieve and know you did the best that you could. It takes time to get over this. But often a new pet gets us feeling better.

I am so sorry to hear this. My heart goes out to you.

Right before the school year started, I had to put my beloved Scooter down due to congestive heart failure.

It hurt so bad. After a week of mourning, and crying, and hell, I made an appt with my counselor and just went in his office and sobbed. I truly didn't expect to be affected by his death for such a long period of time.

Many would say that he was only a fur baby- get over it. My fur baby had been a part of my life almost as long as my kids. He was part of my family and will always be.

Mourn in your own time. But, reach out for help if it goes on for too long. We are here to support you. We understand.

I am still down. I have to make myself do things. I will be ok though. I am still processing what happened.

I am so sorry about your loss... I wish I would there to give you a hug. I went through the exact same thing 3 years ago... My Rowan, calico kitty, I had her for 13 years... She had always been healthy and well...then suddenly she got sick... I felt she was dying...I prayed, talked with Spirit because I was at such a loss as to know what to do. I didn't have the money EITHER! to have her put down...
But finally, some of the 'real beliefs' came through to me... All death is by soul agreement (my own belief) and that she, too, somehow, in someway, chose this.
At least she died at home, knowing she was loved, rather than drag her to the vet in her very sick condition, and turned over to a stranger to die... Please think about this, countryhearts... Your cat KNEW how very loved it was! And now...it is FREE, well, and happy... and I had to realize all of this, too. Six days after Rowan died, I went to Dumb Friends League here in Denver and the 'right cat' and I found each other. Too soon??? NO!!!! It just means we have an unending supply of LOVE and love is healing. Ervin (his name) needed me, too. My granddaughter who really was the one who 'chose' him told me that...and that made me feel so good.
You have done NOTHING wrong!! We put ourselves through SO much drama and grief because of how we use our 'imaginations'...I know YOU know what I am talking about.
Somewhere there is another one that NEEDS you, countryhearts... it would make your other kitty proud! Much love to you..

No wonder you are upset, I would feel very much the same. I have 2 cats myself and dread that my older cat is having attitude changes and mood swings. She is 9 and a half and I don't know what any of it means. It scares me and I worry what will happen when she dies.

When my hamster died 8 years ago I was a wreck. He was 4 years old and my baby, he was my cats baby too, she used to love him.

Animals become part of the family and the pain of losing them is real and strong. It feels like losing a part of your heart.

I just wanted to say, thinking of you, it is mega hard to get through but try thinking of the good things. Like my little hamster, even though he was blind and had arthritis used to climb the side of the cage then at the top he swung across the bars like a kid in a playground. Remember the happiness you brought each other and know at least now he's not in pain.
