Yesterday, we were out front of our house and noticed a huge bird up in our live oak tree, and up there was a huge Coopers Hawk, it was amazing really! First time since being in Texas have we ever had a Hawk in one of our tree's...
Was a sight to behold...it did have a small white bird to snack on and we warned our neighbor to be careful with their small dogs...but this was one of life's "WOW" moments...It stayed around for several hours .
Just wanted to share, it makes you look at life in a new way...

Thank you Chartreux. We get hawks on occasion. Red tailed I think. And falcons. Pretty cool. We feed the small birds and the predatory birds sometimes notice and munch on one... Not good, but that is nature I guess.

Oh, that sounds nice. I like watching the big birds...not those nasty spatzies, or bully blue jays. We are blessed to have a wake of buzzards on our property. There are hundreds of them...so no hawks at all. Its amazing to watch them catch the thermals and soar. It seems like they can float effortlessly for hours zigzagging over the river and into Kentucky, then back again only to repeat again and again.

We noticed them the first time after a hospitalization for my darling. As I stopped in the driveway I looked over at him and they were on our fence railing. I asked him how he felt. When he said fine I asked if he wouldn't mind telling them. That made him laugh. They have been our "boys" ever since.
