Lessons from my Cerubellar Hypoplasia cat

We have a cat named Sensei. He has Cerubellar Hypoplasia. In other words, his brain is not formed properly. As a result, he is very spastic. Sometimes he moves 'normally' and one would not believe he has any issues. Most of the time, he does not move like a cat. He has taught me the following........

1. define 'normal'
2. even if you can't do it like everyone else, with determination, you will find your own way
3. leave your poop where it belongs...he has never not made it to the litter box!
4. even if you can't communicate the way others do, you can express yourself and get your point across
5. every life is valuable
6. try a new perspective, every day

I'm sure there is more but this is a good start. Where do you get your 'life lessons'?

When I first got fibromyalgia, it was so hard for me. I was always in pain and exhausted. I was a worrier. I thought a lot about the past and worried always about the future. This in itself is exhausting. The fibromyalgia wouldn't let me do that anymore. I could only focus on the present. I think in a strange way this helped me to be mindful. So that is one of my life's lessons.

I am so glad you kept the kitty. A lot of people wouldn't have, and I do think that is sad. We all have flaws. You are such a good person Pitmom to keep sweet Sensei...

Jamie, you are like me, learning from the world around you. I find experience is a very good teacher too.

From my dogs:

unconditional love
really important things in life; eat, nap, pipes working, cuddles
never miss an opportunity for a treat
help in spreading paint; opening up my art

From people:

some are so drama driven they forget their lies. = toxic
if there is a bad vibe, there is a reason
a pretty package means nothing
the wounded are more sincere and empathetic
true friends are good books, they stay no matter what

Food

Ice cream is one of the best coping skills out there..
smooth so there are no interuptions in the pleasure.
