lamotrigine

So I know Rey takes this, but does anyone else or has anyone taken it in the past. My shrink wants me to start taking it, and to get off the abilify and I'm scared. The abilify works so well for me, but it does have the side effect of causing diabetes and heart disease, both of which already run in my family so it probably is a good idea to get off of it. I'm just so scared, I don't want to fall back into a deep depression, I've been taking the abilify for almost 4 or 5 years now and it has kept me stable. He told me the lamotrigine has no side effects like abilify does and I could remain on it for the rest of my life if it works. He wants me to start off on a low dose and up it slowly, while slowly wean off abilify.

Yesterday we increased me effexor from 75 mg to 112.5mg and I see him in 6 weeks of which I'm suppose to start the lamotrigine and start the wean from my abilify. I would just like to get all the info on what to expect, and pro's and con's about it. Anyone? :) Thanks in advance.

Hi, I take lamotrigine and am not having any problems with it. I guess I have been on it for about 3-4 years. I hope if you do decide to go onto it instead of the abilify, that it works for you, too.

I got to go to the doc because of my blood work today. I take abilify too and my sugars have been kind of high. I don't know if he realizes I take it so I have to remember to tell him.

I will let you know what my AC1 was when I find out. I know I will probably be close if not there...

Well, it wasn't my sugar and it wasn't my thyroid, my liver counts were high so I have to get more blood work and an ultra sound. Wish me luck... The doc said that it wasn't super high, but they want to see what is up...

the rash is very rare. like ya said i take some stuff that is more scary and worrisome than ECT!!! and i have had ECT and would actually prefer it. but thankfully i am not at the level no longer. my pharmacist rapped me over the knuckles for me taking ibruprofen. liver damage, blah. i said i am already stuffed, what does it matter. and the combo of pills. each say do not take if you are........and am all of the are!! don't take if you are taking this for that, and i am. blah blah. as my doc says when doing new scripts, are you still eating the.......... take care. give it a go i say.
