I think it is going to just take a little time. I have read quite a few posts from others that mention getting depressed after surgery. You had some major surgery. I think if you keep going to the psychiatrist and therapist that you are going to get through this. It just doesn't happen fast. I really believe that having the surgery is really adding to depression where you would normally be feeling better. One day at a time Sunny, you are going to get through this and we are going to help you.

In my opinion, you are working really hard to feel better and I think you will. Try to be patient with yourself and know you haven't done anything to cause the depression, it just happened. Take some deep breaths. Try to relax. Keep moving forward. Most of all, give yourself a break.

We all go through these times, ups and downs. The dark times do pass, just takes time.

I know from experience that the coping skills they are teaching you are key in daily living. It is very hard to begin, however practicing does help and soon you start seeing a positive difference in daily emotions.

Own the depression as it is your illness that you will master. It is not your fault, even so it is now your fight. This is one of the hard concepts to accept about it. I remember the day I accepted this. I felt very empowered, freed from the control I allowed my family to have over me.

You are not alone, you have friends to do not things with and get out of your own head.
We are hear for you to understand and listen to how you feel.

So glad you popped in. Accomplishments may seem small, but they mean a lot when you are feeling this way. Whether if it is what you are doing or how you feel. Little things are actually big things. So feel good for what you have accomplished. It means a lot.

I am glad you are trying some new meds. This may be only temporary too, so maybe you wont have to be on them forever. I hope that you find something that helps you.

I know you feel like you are being passed around. But the truth of the matter probably is that the doctors don't know what to do. I have been in these situations too. Feeling like I am just being passed off to another doctor. It was scary at the time, but when I look back on it now, there just may have been no answers. They do the best that they can. I guess they aren't perfect. Even if we wish that they were and didn't ever make mistakes... I found out though that surgery is a shock to the body. And for me it took a long time to heal. So be patient. How are you doing with that by the way? How is the body healing? How do you feel physically?

I am glad that you are able to keep plans. After I got fibromyalgia I realized that it was really hard to make any plans because of never knowing how I am going to feel from one day to the next. It still is that way. It is always a gamble. I did however learn about living in the moment from this which was a good thing. The plan stuff is still iffy. Keep making these plans for the positive. It will keep you going.

I feel so badly for you Sunny. I am sorry you are going through this. Just remember that we are all here for you and are by your side. We care about you and know you are struggling. But honestly, I think this is kind of normal for what you have been through. Not that it doesn't have to be dealt with because it does, but I don't think it is anything out of the ordinary. You will get the depression under control and you will feel better mentally and physically in time. Keep hanging in there and keep posting here.

I hope your day is good. Sun is out here and it is warm. May be the only day this week that it is this nice, so I want to take advantage of that. Already been out for one walk with my dog. It was awesome... I think spring may be here this time. I hope. But where I live, you never know...

really tired now and nauseous, so not reading new messages yet. just an update: doc put me back on lamictal, start at 50mg. called rheumy clinic (got referral last week from pcp), apparently they have stopped treating all cases of fibro. started new policy 3 months ago but nurse wouldn't tell me why. she was willing to set up an appt to test inflammatory markers. i told her my doc already did that and it was all negative. end of call. ….. frustration!!!

dumb ?: why do docs not treat fibro? seems more and more in my area are backing away from it.
