I've been waiting a few months but today is the day I finally have my appointment with a psychiatrist! I'm feeling a little low today which I think is a good thing, in a weird way. I'm hoping that he will be able to make a med adjustment that will help me. I would rather go when I'm not feeling good than when I am that way he can help me, hopefully. I think that if I go in feeling good he won't really do anything for me even though not all days are good. All in all things have been a bit better since I was able to get my home out of foreclosure but I still have those days when I wake up and just feel like crap. Anyway, I'm hoping my meeting with the doc goes well. wish me luck!

all the best. any psychiatrist worth there salt can determine, regardless of presentation of what is needed. i use to think the same way. it's a fallacy, but there are psychiatrists not worth there salt. i have been through many. sadly you get the good bad, and sometimes ugly before you find the right one. just my 2 cents. healing thoughts.

HT is correct, so the best action to take, is to be as honest as possible, pull no punches.
they should give you questionaire to fill out first. This is important as a guideline to where you general mindset is.
Best of luck and lets us know who it goes.
Peace
Trina

Hi Chrispy,
I hope you and the psychiatrist hit it off. I have been to a few myself. Some can be strange, but most are normal people. But you know how society has made a psychiatrist sound. Freaky...
They are pretty good at figuring things out. Medications too. So as was posted above, be honest to the best of your ability. Try not to get nervous. Know you are going to be feeling better soon.
Hugs, Karen...

Karen.. Chrispy is what my best friend calls me too :)
My appointment with the psych went well. He was able to pull out most of my life story in about
an hour. He decided to increase my Wellbutrin which I think is a good idea because I was on a higher amount once before and I was doing better then. I have to say I cried a bit but it was a good release. I also saw my therapist yesterday which helped.
The psych suggested I work on past anger, for instance anger towards my mother for neglect, physical and emotional abuse. He feels I should have more anger towards her and I need to get in touch with that. He thinks I stuffed a lot of anger and that has to do with why I'm depressed. I happen to be reading a book on anger that someone here suggested. It's called "When Anger Scares You". I've totally related with everything I've read so far. Thank you to whomever it was that suggested it.
So anyway.. that's me.. working on anger right now :)

That's great news Chrispcat! Glad you found one you can work with!
I once had a magnet that said...Depression...anger without enthusiasm. Who knew it was correct? Ha!

Hey Chrispy, I am really happy for you. I feel you are now beginning a total healing journey. It may be a little rocky at times, there may be bumps in the road, but it is all a part of our healing, embrace it.
You are going to feel a lot better now. I think that this is totally fantastic!!
