I am most anxious to know if anyone here on the forum has ever (or knows someone who has) had genetic testing regarding metabolic enzymes? I am medication-resistant, and everything I try taking for my very severe depression and anxiety makes the problem worse. I am currently taking Remeron which is the only med I have been able to tolerate in 6 months, but it's not helping to bring me out of the awful depression and doing little to decrease the anxiety. It is just basically keeping me from being suicidal, and for that I'm grateful. But every time my drs. try to add something to the Remeron to give it a "boost" to help with the depression/anxiety, within a matter of just hours, my depression severely worsens and I become non-functional. My doc thinks we might possibly get an answer if we could do genetic testing regarding metabolic enzymes since my system is obviously metabolizing these meds much too quickly and a lot more quickly than normal, but my insurance doesn't cover it, I hear it's very expensive so I can't afford it out of my own pocket, and it might NOT give us any answers. ANY INPUT ON THIS WOULD BE SINCERELY APPRECIATED - CONCERNING WHAT RESULTS WERE OBTAINED AND THE COST OF SUCH TESTING. Thank you very much!
