I have been on Effexor for just over a year for major depression and had depression relapse pretty bad. I just today have been given abilify by my psychiatrist to use together with 300mg Effexor.

Any advise from anyone taking these meds? I am hoping this will work to feel better. So sick of relapsing and feeling defeated again!!

Abilify was a miracle drug for me, seriously the best med I've ever been on. I had no side effects that I can remember. I took it for 5 years and used it with several different AD's, effexor being one of them. The difference in my depression was like light or day, I used to be one that would cry at the drop of a hat, abilify made it so I hardly ever cried. Of course I still could cry when really warranted, but not on every little thing. I took 10 mg for about 2 years, and then 15 for about 2 years and then 10 again for past year.

Sadly, I had to get off it cause of some long term side effects but if the new med they put me on doesn't work, I'm likely to go back on it and say screw the side effects.

I wish you all the luck with it, it really is an awesome little pill.

I'm grateful and hopeful to hear that. I'm sick of changing meds and feeling down each time and relapsing. It is so disheartening. Hopefully this will be the answer for me

I have been taking abilify for a few years now too and I really like it. Just recently I switched to a generic, at first I didn't think it was going to work as well, but it is.

I wish you the best with it. It helps me keep my thoughts straight.

Welcome,

I took abilify for 2 years, it worked wonders for me. Had to stop taking it because it reacted with the cymbalta and caused weakness in my legs to the point where I started to fall a lot.

This does not mean it will happen with effexor.
