New here, but wanted some advice on Lexapro for depression. I have taken Lexapro for anxiety (a few years ago) and weaned myself off. I have never experienced depression in my life. I am going through a divorce and find myself not able to perform the usual day to day responsibilities like I should. I haven't been able to find the energy or motivation to clean house or do laundry. All I want to do is sleep. I have a few months supply of Lexapro and considered starting it again today. Any advice on how well this drug works for depression? Thank you.

Hi Kassy - I am currently on 20MG of Lexapro (generic) right now for anxiety/depression. I haven't been on it long enough to be getting the full therapeutic effects but my doctor said it's one of the most effective antidepressants offered as well as being one of the more tolerable ones starting up. I'll be able to give you a better answer in a few weeks once I get there. If you were on it before and benefited from it, hopefully you will again. I've talked to quite a few people who say it works wonders for them!

Meds do work differently for different people so your experience will probably be unique to you. I hope that the Lexapro works for you. Do you have a doctor? So they can help you? I really hope you feel better soon. Sorry about your circumstances.
