Keeping as close to a schedule is helpful for me. A full spectrum lamp is essential for me in winter. Creating my own 'sundown' by keeping certain lamps on and turning them off one at a time in the evening helps. Having a 'bedtime routine' too...a cup of tea, late afternoon, perhaps a warm bath with lavender oil in it, making sure my room is at a good temperature for sleep (the body prefers cooler temps for sleep), wearing socks to bed (I take them off later) as my doctor recommended helps. Keeping the room tidy so that my mind can more easily 'unclutter' too. Avoiding coffee after 2pm. And last but not least, an occasional Bendryl to help me get drowsy...these are the things I use on a regular basis to help keep my sleep cycle at it's best.
No naps during the day either! No sitting around in pajamas all day! Making sure to get outside in the sun and fresh air during the day, if only for 10 minutes!
Groundhog day doesn't come just once a year for me! Same old, same old, can be harmful. I try to 'mix it up' each day somehow.
Best of luck to you.
