My mom was rushed to the hospital today Friday 23 July, she was in a catatonic state, she is doing better, but doctors think she has parkinsons disease. So we wait till Monday for her to see a neurologists.
She's in Michigan and I'm in Texas and its hard when its long distance...
I was surprised when they moved her back in with Dad, because I don't think she was good enough or independant enough and was rushed back to the independant care...
Please could use some prayers, thank you...

Now my brothers are talking about advanced directives, which for my mom is probably too late as I don't think she'll ever be in the right frame of mind to get it done and it's upsetting me because I know it can't be done and it's too late for that. Advance directives need to be done when you are still young and can make decisions...My mom is not right now...Really they now want to argue about advance directives...and they want me in on the conversations which would be me saying so and so has the power of attorney and thats all...I just want to know how mom is....

So very sorry about the vent and Thank you for the prayers they are needed...she will see a neurologist tomorrow and so we'll have to wait and see...
Parkinsons would makes sense and my husband thinks its possible from knowing her, it also could explain with stuff I've been dealing with.

I empathize with your situation. It is a rough spot to handle.

You remain in my prayers.

Parkinson's is a odd disease hits hard or comes on slow and disables.

You are strong and can get through this. We are here for you.

Thinking of you!! It is is hard when 'Mom' is involved. Families do learn to pull together, but it takes a little time to straighten out the emotions. You are right about the advance directive--but it might take brothers a little more time to realize it.

Well she is out of the Hospital, but still no reasons or cause for her catatonic state, she had no infection in her blood, no uti's, no nothing they could find, They released her back to the skill nursing facility, but where she can get nursing help. I do not think she'll ever be independent again. It's been hard because of the distance and that with my daughter's upcoming wedding I just can't take off to get up north. It's bad enough the wedding is in Ft. Worth and I'm in Houston a 300+ mile trip...
The prayers are appreciated, for now when she has skilled nursing care she is good...
For the wedding we ordered the favors, 72 and about 57 are usable, so we have to send picture of the bad ones and they want to give a refund, I just want replacements, because I still need about 20...
Over the weekend for tax free weekend, went early to Macys(was there right at 9a.m.), someone stole my glasses (prescription readers) while I was getting up from the computer after looking for dresses,(did not notice they were gone right away. We, then went into Dillards and I had to use the Ladies room and the paper towel dispenser failed and I ended up badly bruised on my right thumb. Because of the stolen eye glasses I cannot order the one dress from Dillards that fit me for the rehearsal dinner, sad. Very sad

In the newspaper today was an article that I can relate to. Seniors that go into the Hospital come out in worse shape.
Originally in March my mom was in the Hospital because of pnemonia and when she got out, she was physically in worse shape and not really able to better cope and not eating ! So this whole could stem from her stay in Hospital back in March. Plus she needs more physical therapy than what they are giving her,,,
Thank you for the prayers, now that I know the cause I can try to talk about it with my brothers, I will make a copy of this story for them and see if its possible to get my mom more therapy. We can't let our elderly give up on life, even if they are in their 80's...why is that hard to accept?
I know we don't live forever, but her giving up is not good either, our elderly deserve better she just needs therapy...

I believe that too Char. I saw it happen to my aunt and grandmother. I think there is just so many germs going around there as there is in a doctor's office. Plus the stress from having to go in the first place. I think it takes it's toll on many people but the elderly I think are affected more so.

I hope your mother feels better soon and you too. I know you are very concerned about what is going on with her. More prayers going out to you both.

chartreux, wow so much going on in your life right now. congratulations to your daughter. this is such a happy occasion and I hope you will be able to enjoy it. no matter how perfect or imperfect the wedding is, please don't stress out too much over it.

you mentioned your mom has a neurology appointment today? how did that go? were they ever able to figure out why she was catatonic? hoping all goes well with the family!
