Yesterday I saw my doctor. I have a brain scan scheduled for next week, and a neuro consult the week after. That will help me determine if there is any decrease of mental processes.

I am now wearing a brace on my right hand--the evils of carpal tunnel. I left it on last night for bed--and am in the worst pain today--left shoulder and back(???) The right side hurt for a little while when I got up-but wore off with the morning painkillers. But the left side is still bad.

Also I will see a podiatrist next week. Broke my right big toe several times during my life--and it is pretty twisted up. There may be nothing we can do.

I am glad you are getting things taken care of. I hope that the scan comes back good. Sorry about the carpal tunnel. No fun...

I been to the doc, have a list of things to discuss, but I don't do it. Don't know what is up with that. Nothing severe, just a pain in the butt. But I need to take care of things.

I hope that today is a good day for you. Good luck at the podiatrist.

That is what this was, Karen. I have been ignoring my toe for years--and the pain in my wrist was getting bad. I just decided to initiate it, finally. My last podiatrist said the only available recourse was surgery. The toe has been an issue since freshman year in college, when I rolled a piano over it when I was wearing ballet slippers. Taught me a lesson to never wear ballet slippers backstage.

I do want to find out if there has been a decrease of mental functioning in recent years. The information will be good to have, despite what I chose to do with it.

Like many others, pride keeps me from admitting the depth of my physical limitations.

Same here. Or just thinking I don't deserve to fix myself. Or maybe I don't want to bother. But none of my issues are going to get any better. I have a plantar's wart on one foot and a bunion on the other. I should address the bunion before it gets any worse I guess. My big toe is getting crooked. The plantars wart, well I don't have the guts to try to dig it out myself. Ha...

I would be curious about the mental functioning. But with my age, I guess there might be some decline. Plus the fibromyalgia doesn't help, as you know. But I do practice the mindfulness and try to challenge the mind. Word games and such. But yea, I would want to know too.

Ouch with the piano over the foot. And I imagine the ballet shoes would make it worse. You sound like me... Just living with it. Does that make us tough???

You have a lot going on Myself. Glad you are finally taking time to take care of you health. Sorry about the pain. Hope you get some relief and take it easy as well.

Pain is middling today. Had lots of pain issues this weekend. Appointments are tomorrow, and I need to get some bloodwork done.

My thanks, all.

The head CT scan has been done--I go down to talk to the neurologist next week.

The podiatrist set me up with a big toe brace I can wear with shoes. He also diagnosed Raynauds, which I suspected. Not much can really be done about either--outside of surgery on the big toe.

My reward was to stop by Trader Joes before heading home.

I need to go get bloodwork done. Achy and tingly today, as usual. Be well, all, and thanks again for the thoughts.

All my radiology and blood work is finally done. Now I'm just waiting for the final reports.

When do you get your results?

The best thing about Raynauds is it gives you and excuse to wear those huge fuzzy slippers.

Yeah, F27---Hope you pass your tests. I just got back from the fasting bloodwork. My neuro appointment is Wednesday, and I am sure the PCP will want to see me again after that. My cholesterol will be high--genetics.

I fall over the big fuzzy slippers. I have these little, sock-like super-fuzzy slip-ons. They are fun.

When we first brought our cat home he couldn't walk on the hardwood floor. He had been living in a garbage dump all winter, and his toe pads were calloused from being frozen, instead of sticky. He looked quite distressed, and stuck to the carpet for the first couple of weeks.

Just got back from the neuro. High normal mental functioning. Nothing in either the CT or the blood work. Apparently, late 40s is when people report not feeling as sharp as they once were. Neuro said that due to my educational level, I probably feel the decline more acutely than most. The only thing he can suggest is to try to cut back on my pain meds.

Now, time to make another appointment with PCP about the cholesterol.

Be well, friends--time to put on my furry slippers. Another random theatre story-ex-hubby had a pair of godzilla slippers that had sensor pads ont he bottom that let out roars when pressure was placed on them. He loved to wear them to light hang and focus.

A neurologist, while well-meaning, isn't really the Dr who tests brain acuity. You need a full day of testing by a neuro-psychologist - if you aren't familiar, here's a good description. /en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuropsychology. My neuro-psych exam was really the turning point in my disability claim when I could no longer think well enough to perform my professional duties.
