I have duplicates of spices. I can never find one when I need so I buy another. Then I end up with more than one. Some of I use so seldom.

Jamie is at his sister's house. He will be back soon. Nothing wrong, just house sitting.

What this means is that the pasta should be somewhat firm, and offer some resistance to the tooth, but should also be tender

When I was in college, at a well-known and highly respected Institute Of Technology, we convinced a young lady from a neighboring nursing school that grits grew on bushes.

Can't remember what lead us to do that, but she believed it immediately and without question!

Penzey's Spices from Wisconsin--I get everything there, by mail order. They have great prices. I store bags in the freezer, and refill small bottles. Their Vietnamese cinnamon is gorgeous colors for the mouth. For those that like curry, try their Curry Now.

*sigh*

Lynn--I worked at a boy's summer camp during college that had British counselors. My best friend, who lived on a farm, totally convinced a Welsh kid that they were raising goats whose ears were a gourmet specialty in France. It's a specific breed of goat called LaMancha, that has just a wee flap.

Christopher Columbus was not his real name. He was actually named Cristoforo Colombo when he was born in Genoa, Italy.

Those ships we've learned to identify as the Niña, Pinta and Santa Maria were actually called Santa Clara, Pinta and La Gallega. The crew called La Gallega Marigalante (dirty Mary). Columbus rechristened her Santa Maria.

Cold here this morning. Got down to 29 last night. Yikes...

Going shopping today I think. Was going to go on Saturday but didn't. Sunny here. I hope it stays that way.

Sorry I'm 'late to the party'. Having lived through hurricane Sandy in a mobile home without tie downs...I sort of fold in on myself when they are in the forecast.

Almost done painting my bedroom. I think I finally found a furniture arrangement that will work! I put the small dresser on top of one of the other full size dressers, sort of like a highboy now. I can finally walk all around the bed when I make it and won't have to struggle to make a bed pushed up against a wall anymore! Now, I just have to make a 'box' around the fuse box and wiring with a sliding door on it for access to it. Then I plan to put a shelf all around the room to make up for the lost storage from ripping out the built ins.

Hope everyone is well. Our weather has been cooling, a bit brisk, but nice for fall.

Ha Ha Joyce, that last tid bit was cute.

I drink 1/3 decaff and 2/3 regular coffee. I can't tell the difference, but I don't get wired from it.

Good day, all--

Cool here as well. Tutoring today (online) and searching jobs. I have cut the hydrocodone from my pill schedule. It has been four days, and so far so good. I miss my garden. I dug out two tomato volunteer seedlings and brought them home and potted them. I know they will most likely die, but, heck, why not give it a try!

F27--Have you gotten your test results back? Did you pass?

Joyce-I used to do something like this in a class on careful reading and critical thinking. An activity where you are told to read all of the directions before you start. The directions have you doing wild things randomly, like calling your name out, standing up and sitting back down, etc. The last step informed you to disregard all previous directions.

loved em joyce. exactly what I need at nearly 2am in the morning, awesome. fresh here. am sore. slept heavy all day. sis did some shopping whilst I was crashed, didn't hear her. so just catching up on dishes and things. good to be home. been here like 13 yrs, so I guess it is home. love 2 all.

All summer it was too hot to do anything, over 90 or 95 most days. Today it's 63, sunny, breezy and beautiful and I just want to lay in bed with my book.

I have about 2 weeks to finish going thru 30 years of things stuffed into my office/den before the painters & carpet installers come. Can't seem to get moving on it, it all just seems TOO MUCH.

Feelings: frustration, despair, depression, apathy.

Happy Tuesday all.

Off to the Psychiatrist soon. have to pay a 50.00 fee cause I cancelled 1 hour before my appointment last week. Oooops

I saw on Archaeology.org or com I think org. That a 200 yr old pub was found in England when they were digging the basement for a high rise. The part, it had over 20 bottles of brandy still sealed. Can you even imagine how smooth that might be, unless it was rock gut, then it is paint thinner by now.

Thanks for asking M09. :) I just got back from the doc's.

Short answer, scans all good - all the big stuff taken off of the table. Presented me with a comprehensive go-forward plan that includes physio and kinesiology, diet and meal planning, thyroid support, head shrinking, a more detailed sleep study (now with more WIRES!), and the potential removal of a BP med.

Doc wasn't too worried about sleep med addiction "you've been taking them for 10+ years, what did you expect?", and he'll tweak AD's based on sleep study and head shrinking.

I must admit, it's quite a relief just to have a plan.

Did you get to see a neuro-psych?

@Karen - I had to ask too. It's the science of movement. In my case, we're going to do some remedial work on my knees, and then they're going to teach me old man stretching and strength training. Apparently I shouldn't expect to be able to work out like a 20 year old anymore. heheh

Had a pretty good day today. Got the furnace going for the first time.
It was 61 degrees in the house when I got up this morning. Brrrrrr!!

Myself...I so enjoyed learning about your classroom experience. That must have been interesting to experience. How many "passed"

My husband and I moved to this house 11 years ago, and it still doesn't feel like home. Of course we were in the previous house for 35 years, so that may be why.

Lynnwood...Hope you were able to do some of the things on your list. Once you get started and make a 'dent'...the road may be easier. Wish we could help

Just a bit of added info, I've been taking sleep aids every night for at least ten years. Maybe that's how I've been able to reach the age of 81.
