shakehead I've been on pretty much most meds for mdd, some work for as much as up to a year then they poop out. Pristiq worked so well then nothing. I am currently on bupropion sr 200, doesn't do much but I keep taking it. Anyway my dr. is trying a combo of brintellix, bupropion, seroquel and trazadone. Any opinions on this combo and is it possible that pristiq after being off it a year could work again?

Hi Webers, and welcome to the depression forum. Though there could be a chance that the pristiq wont work, there is a good chance it will. Honestly I think that your dose could of gone up. How much were you taking? I take 150 mg of pristiq a day. I have been taking it for a few years and it works well for me. I understand that 150mg is the highest dose, though people have taken more.

It can take six to eight weeks before you notice you are feeling better so don't give up on the bupropion.

I am sure that the doc is giving you what they feel will work. It sounds like a lot of meds, but it is probably a good combination. You sound like there may be a few things going on with depression and I am thinking possibly bi-polar. The Seroquel is what makes me think. Though I am not absolutely positive what it is for. The trazadone will help you with sleep. Brintellix is somewhat new, I know one person taking it and it works well for them. Though we are all different.

Have faith that the doc is doing what they feel will be best for you at this time. If nothing works maybe you could try pristiq again. I have found it to be a good medication.

I agree with Karen that the P may work again.

I have revisited medications and the results were better the 2nd time around, especially in a combo. The cocktails seem to be the key.,
Tweeking the mg's of the diff meds within the combos is the tricky and tedious part.

Be sure to make notes of progress, bad feelings, side effects etc.. So you can have a open and 100% honest conversation with the doc.

Of Course call the doc office is anything is getting out of hand.
