Why we ****** depression

Nothing is that simple....

Happy, lucky people can become depressed.
Depressed, unlucky people can become happy.

The world dishes out suffering to all people, in great variety.

I believe in karma but I don't think it works like SuperMarioGamer believes. I have seen karma in action.

Karma is unforgiving equally both on to successful and in struggle. It's law of universe. One have to be in peace with the moment to be immune to karma. You bring a good topic, but I think you tried to explain political point of our government, rather than finding what you can be good at.

This is the weirdest post I've read so far today. It's as though it's written by somebody who has literally had no contact with the human race but obviously heard about them from somewhere - it's that removed from reality.

Oh sorry. Yeah, topic creator = original poster. I'm more used to the term topic creator, but I must remember that nobody on HW seems to use it here.

And The Secret is about more than just positive thinking. It's literally thinking that the universe will give you anything you want (fame, wealth, health etc.) if you just want it badly enough. Except as the top review in the below link points out, the only people who have made any money out of The Secret are the folks who are behind it.

I've got nothing against positive thinking but this book (and others of its ilk) stretches that into something altogether more fanciful and make-believe. We wouldn't tell children these sort of lies about how the world works, well, not older children at any rate.

Yes, the book if that is what she was expressing, doesn't sound good. At least saying that if we got depression and bad luck, we will always have it. And those with wealth and good luck and no depression, will always be happy. I think that is what was being expressed.

I edited the original post because I found it insulting to the diagnosis of DEPRESSION and inflammatory.

I am glad to see the thread has not gone in that direction.

Not stating my outlook on this. The fact that I strongly edited the original post, I think says enough.

I saw the original post, before it was edited. I could only think how sad it was, to believe that there was nothing that could be done to break the cycle of depression. I left no comment. To believe that way shut the door on any comment I could make being helpful. It did however, get me thinking about the things I do to break my own cycle. I may never be 'cured' but I refuse to leave myself 'untreated'.
