Hello,
Seeing if anyone has had any trials with ketamine ?
I'm about to start and wanted to hear anyone's thoughts ?

I heard it works and some more recent studies show that it is more effective than ECT (according to one of the psychiatrists my husband had). good luck and I hope you notice a difference immediately. please come back to update us.

that's bs. ECT has been around for yrs (since the 50's) with scientific evidence that proves it's efficacy in saving lives!!!!! ketamine is only in clinical trial stage. sorry ilovepuppies, but i have had ECT, and maybe again.

theHTreturns...I have no doubt ECT works. it's nothing short of a miracle for psychiatric illnesses and has been effective for so many. as I've mentioned multiple times before, I would much prefer that my husband gets ECT as he's so uncooperative with his psychiatrist and is dishonest when it comes to the severity of his symptoms, med compliance and side effects. however, for those who have failed ECT or are greatly afraid of going the ECT route, I'm glad there's an up and coming alternative (that has been effective). we still don't know about the safety of ketamine in the long run but I'm glad more options are becoming available for those who are treatment resistant or severely ill.

again, if I had it my way, my husband would have started on ect 10 months ago given how sick he is. I am a believer and would never bash it.

ketamine, dea fact sheet. drug used in the equine industry as a tranqualizer, and for some children and the elderly as a pre induction analgesic. ketamine is hard to break into other parts chemically, hence the brain gets hit hard and people whom abuse this drug, stolen mainly from veterinarian clinics have effects similar to pcp and lsd. it is known as special k etc. deadly drug, esp those driving, as people are tripping. being trialled in some parts for pain mgt and for behavioural reasons.

Yeah the medical version for treatment is different than the street drug.

I was seeing if anyone had experience with the medical treatment. Thanks for the hope ilovepuppies.

Wow, I just saw on our local news today about Ketamine being used to treat Depression. It looks very promising. Can you share what your experience was like with us?

The treatments itself were great. The doctor was awesome too.

It just didn't have a sustaining effect for me. Had a lot of ups and downs throughout the time period.
