Best time of day to take single dose anti-D?

I started Effexor a few weeks ago and so far has it helped in some ways, even though I know it's supposed to take a cpl months to reach therapeutic levels. I'm still on minimum dose once daily, and was wondering what time of day others have found is best to take it.

It makes me a little dizzy so I was taking it later in the afternoon around nap time, but as I must take it with food (Barrett's esophagus) I have started taking it after breakfast. Later in the day gets more tricky. I've been thru the headache stage and that is gone. Now I have buzzing in my head and expect that to pass too. I don't think changing meds is an option at this point as I've only just started.

Anyway, I stumbled into this forum a month ago from the cancer forums so what follows may not make much sense to the usual crowd here. The Effexor initially helped with the frequency and severity of hot flashes from Lupron HT, but that seems to have diminished somewhat. I think a dosage increase will bring that back. It really helped with my "obsessive rumination", unwanted thoughts that would send me into crying fits. And little things don't upset me so much anymore. I've only had one meltdown, that was in pre-op last week when the surgeon was delayed several hours. Still coping with the after effects of that.

I know I've somehow managed to step on some toes here already. I'm really not a bad guy, just at my age people tend to become cranky and blunt. I do have a blog if anyone is interested in the story of my wife and me. Just click the little house icon at the left. Or not

Apparently your blog is hosted on a Cancer forum that gives "access denied" to non-members.

I take my meds in the morning. After it gets into your system good, as long as you take it the same time every day you should be good. Do ask your doc though and see what they recommend.

I hope that the Effexor works well for you. I took it for years and it worked well for me.

It generally takes six to eight weeks to reach full effect, though you could start feeling better before that.
