Bitter cold here but at least the wind has died down. Not sure if I will be changing the lights on the arch for New Years but my partner bought me a new lighted sphere just in case. My version of the 'Times Square Ball'.

I'm up in the middle of the night because one of the cats decided this is the time to cough up a hairball right next to my pillow! They should make an alarm clock with that sound and no one would ever oversleep!

Tired today. I have come down with THE COLD everyone has. I also still have diarrhea. The saga, for those who missed it, is that I stopped taking a full dosage of a med, and diarrhea started. It has been over ten days now, so I really need to call the doctor. For the past few years, I have had pretty serious constipation. Thanks colitis!! I have officially switched to medicaid, and so need to call their helpline to find out the best step. A PCP will not be able to determine what is happening.

I plan to take a nap. If I feel up to it, I will go to the gym. Be well, all.

Karen, pastry blender, isn't that cheating? ah, just kidding. I use the recipe in Fanny Farmer and my crusts come out good 99.9% of the time.

Lynnwood, Myself. I am still battling the COLD, 1 week after finishing a Z-pack. Cough is better, nose is stuffed, not stuffed. Yesterday I spent 5 hours sleeping again. Today again I feel better. We will see about tomorrow.

This cold is like a parasite.

Working on a cloth journal. Saw them on PinInterest. I have the Front page almost done. I didn't purposely do so, but it came out abstract, I like it. I want to had a SEMI-COLON, to represent my life is not over yet, and my victory over the dark thoughts.

So, call me crazy. After bundling up and taking the dogs out for a bit of exercise, I took down the lights on the bushes and arch and put up the white lights and the globe on the arch for New Years. Of course, I had to come into the house repeatedly to warm my hands! The fresh air did me good. I got 4 loads of laundry washed and half of it dried. I'll finish that up tomorrow.

Very cold here again today. Suppose to get up to 11. Yesterday it never got above 3 degrees.

Staying in again.

I heard finding double yolkers is good luck, I guess nine yolks would be real good luck.

Still sick here. Ugh. At least the sun is (finally) out.

Besides physically feeling bad, my house is in disarray and getting dirty... which makes me feel even worse. Yuck.

Regarding eggs: I met a woman a couple of weeks ago who has a mentally deficient son. She gets brown eggs to boil, and uses white eggs for cooking. That way her son knows he can eat the brown ones. I thought it a genius idea!

Good morning!

Feeling under the weather today. Lots of throat congestion. Our area is under a flu epidemif. A few schools cancelled school so they could disinfect. They sprayed our school last week.

My kids drove up yesterday to see me. Each time I see them I realize what incredible adults they are.

Since I'm living by myself and have for a year now, I've begun cooking. Before I fixed food to get by but now I am experimenting. Last night I made a yummy French Onion Soup. That will taste good today.

I started crocheting again and I'm working on an afghan. I think I'll take a shower, crochet and eat soup all day.

It's so good to be back with you all!

Lynn-Sorry to hear of the COLD still hanging around--it is a bear to get rid of.

Still diarrhea--two weeks tomorrow, so it cannot just be the change in meds. Not-Welcome back, UC--been a while. Called medicaid nurse, who told me to call doctor, who didn't have an appointment until April, but who had another nurse call, and she told me to go to an Urgent Care place. So--I have some prednisone to work my way through. I have never had to use it before, and I am a little concerned. I have heard the stories. Taught this AM and then dealt with calls and the doctor visit. Stressed out at BF, who got stressed out because of the slow time of year--when you work with students, you don't get a lot of business in the week between Christmas and New Years. I have reminded him a few times of this--but he gets anxious and forgets.

I have a newly single friend and she is pressuring me to go out for a girl's night tonight. I've shared my depression story and how I react to it and she says I am isolating. I'm truly not and I don't know how to explain it to her. I've been single for a while now and I'm completely comfortable by myself. She is in the "man hunt" and party stage. Ideas on how to explain it to her? Thanks in advance!

I'm sick with a head cold and body aches. On the bright side, my daughter is 'stepping up'.

CheleL, maybe point out to your friend that if you were isolating, you wouldn't even be talking to her. That's my m.o. at any rate.

My dog is awesome. She instinctively knows the difference between me going back to bed from depression (in which case she is anxious) and me going back to bed sick (in which case she snuggles). Why can't people be as intuitive? lol

I've lost my voice and today when I went to the store I ran into some friends and students. Of course I tried to say hello and each time people said "have you lost your voice?" It made me giggle! No I just like to whisper!

Yeah, been most of a week without a voice here. But not running into anyone, no energy to do much more than lay in bed with short trips to bathroom and kitchen. I don't even feel like reading or TV. I don't remember ever being quite so BORED while sick before.

My cat is NOT fond of me coughing!!! lol

Boy are we a crew with our illness!

Lynn, , I had to get out- the arctic blast is coming here too. The are forecasting wind chills in the single digits. We absolutely do not know how to handle that in Texas. And they are forecasting an ice storm so I went ahead and got my grocery shopping done.

Sunday I am making a big pot of black eyed peas. It's a tradition in the South. Anywhere else?

Wow you guys, hubby is sick still too. Body aches and constant coughing. Maybe he will lose his voice too. Just kidding. Not...

I hope you all feel better. Lemon and honey eh Trina? I will try that for him. Maybe it will help.

It would of helped if he would of gotten a flu shot like I tried to get him to do. I am glad I got one. I hope I can avoid all the bugs going around.

I had a friend that was from the south and she did the black eyed peas. I remember her saying you were suppose to eat a lot of them. Something about good luck or money. I can't remember now.

Cold here today (again). But not as bad as yesterday and the day before.

Worried I might have to take hubby to the hospital. He is pretty sick. Last night he really scared me as he couldn't walk good. This flu has really got him down. Good thoughts please...

He seems a bit better today than he was last night. I got a flu shot (which he didn't) so I am good so far. I am making him rest.

Poor birds outside in the snow. He filled the feeders yesterday so they are happy and we put some suet out for them. I have chickadees, nut hatchers and black eyed juncos right now. Been having a lot of blue jays and doves too. I love watching the birds.

Thanks for the concern Joyce, I was real scared last night. He doesn't seem to be coughing as much today.

Morning All-

Karen, I hope he feels better. Down here they are saying that the flu shot is only 10% effective in beating this flu. Lysol everything- even him! Lol

I've never made my own black eyed peas-this year will be a first. I wonder if my leftovers will freeze well?

Our temperatures will start falling today and stay extremely cold for one week. Everyone stay warm!

Today is another stay in and crochet day. I only have two more items on my Christmas break to-do list. Neither one will get done today.
