I went for a walk yesterday and truly enjoyed it. I never realized how satisfying it is to breathe fresh air (of course I had my mask on when people were around). Breathing in fresh air felt so lovely! It was also nice just to be able to move and hear the birds.

I saw so many people out and about in my area. It was interesting because I normally don't see so many people out even on nice days in the summer. I guess they had cabin fever as well.

It's amazing how this crisis has taught me to appreciate small things from enjoying the fresh air to move around. It's also teaching me, and I guess others, how to be more self sufficient. I now have to do my own hair since hairsalon have closed and to experiment more with my cooking.

Don't get me wrong...I still get anxious etc., but one good thing to come out of this crisis, is the fact that it is teaching me how to enjoy the little things I took for granted.

I am happy to read that you are experiencing positive things during such a trying time. I too have been enjoying the smaller things. The simplicity of things. And I hope others are as well.

2 nights ago when putting my dog out for the night, it fell so nice out.

The smell from the woods was earthy, breeze was blowing softly.
critters skittering in the leaves

I just sat and closed my eyes crossed my legs and enjoyed til Doodle bounded on me with her poopy free JOY!

Bnotafraid, it's really cool that you were able to enjoy that night.

Oddly enough, I also been thinking of moving to a semi-rural area where I would really enjoy nature and the simplicity of things.

When I was younger, I always thought I'll be a cityslicker for the rest of my life. However, the older I get, the more I yearn to live near the woods or in a rural area. It just seems so peaceful and different from the hustle and bustle of city life, especially NYC before this crisis.

I've been flirting with the idea of leaving for a while, but now I'm really thinking of putting it into action.

Why don't you Rent a place for a couple weeks to a month?

moving from the city to rural is a huge change and there are many many differences that one does not take into consideration. greener type things, and everyone is different.

House up keep is a big one.

looking into 55+ apartment living may be the thing for you. Not such a drastic change There are lots around here. I can't post links here but if you email me I would be glad to to send you some! I don't this you will be disappointed. Lots of parks around. You may want a car, or use uber

I just had to mention that yesterday I sat outside because it was warm. The birds were singing a lot. I shut my eyes and it felt like I was in a jungle. It was such a pleasant feeling and sounds. I don't think I will ever forget the sounds.

Agreed on that... I've been wanting to move somewhere remote for years, if not decades, but the switch from city living is huge and not for everyone. Things we take for granted, like plumbing, running water, and electricity, become nontrivial issues. Most of the comforts we're so used to, from grocery shopping to 911, are no longer at hand.

A place closer to civilization, but outside of the main urban areas, might be a good bet. At least most of the amenities would be covered.

What I've also done is exploring and looking at places... taking a day trip and spending a day or two hiking or camping in the vicinity, for example. At least you get a good sense of what it's like in the area. Still, my options are limited, but maybe this could inspire others.

I live on the outskirts of a little town. Got my own well and such, septic. There is only one store. But I am only ten miles from a bigger town and twenty from an even bigger town. So that isn't bad. Oh, I forgot we have a dollar store in the little town that is fairly new. So I have pretty much what I need. It is fairly private, I have neighbors across the street. Some are loud, some are quiet.

Living in the country could be hard because you don't have the luxuries that you have in town. Or maybe I should say conveniences. But it is peaceful. So I guess it is give and take. I do like owning my own home. Yes there are responsibilities but you can put a nail where you want and it is yours. Unless you have a mortgage.

I guess that is my take on it.

Maybe a part of me is romantizing living in a rural area, and it would be a big adjustment.

I think renting for a few months would be good for me to transition from living in a big city. I'm thinking of moving to a rural area in a warmer climate. I noticed my mood improved once I'm in a sunny, warm environment.

My mood improves in sunny, warm climate too. Vitamin D has a lot to do with how we feel. Crappy weather keeps us inside.

I plan to sit outside for a bit today and soak in the sun.

I got a lot of fresh air yesterday, as I walked around my neighborhood for about two miles. The weather was nice. I'm glad I live in the countryside.

Gettingby, were you to sit outside and soak up the sunshine? That helps me relax sometimes. There is just something about being in the sunlight and warm weather. It must be especially nice if you're in the countryside/rural area.

Marine Mike, it's good that you were able to walk around your neighborhood and get some fresh air. Since working from home, I have been very sedatary. I'm now making more of an effort to walk, but the weather hasn't been too nice last week.

Today, I walked on a trail near my home. It was very wooded, and my first time going there, despite me living in the area for a while. It was very nice just to leave my home. I always thought of my home as a sanctuary, an escape from the rest the world, but it now feels like a prison at times.

Anyway, while on the trail, it made me wonder what it was like for people to travel through wooded areas, like the one I was in, 200 years ago. It must have been really hard on them. I don't know why I started to think about the travelling and living condition of people in the past and their struggles. Maybe, I started to think about the past because of the unprecedented times we're in and the new struggles people are facing.

Forever I ponder that too, but then reality sneaks in and I realize this is one reason the expected living age was in the 50's

The birds have begun chirping.

I never noticed before, or I forgot. The chirp softer in the am.
Which would make sense, since they were sleeping.

We have been given a time for ponderance from this pandemic, i mean from all of us globally.

Much more awareness of humanity is being promoted by isolation and what others may have faced or are facing around the world....and not covid related.

People are realising the important things that have been gaining traction via this pandemic. Ie the evilness of casinos and gambling the plight of the homeless and girls being trafficked in many countries.

But moreso in traction of community compassion and in we all gaining more awareness of those around us....the animals the planet etc. Those in yrs past faced the plague...the black death ebola spamish flu measles, polio, small pox wars and in war times more soldiers died from std's than deaths in combat. Mainly syphilis.

I did get to get out and get some sun the other day. Yesterday was nice but not as warm. Now they are talking snow on Friday. Boo...

I been seeing a lot of depression era recipes on facebook. Makes you wonder what it is going to be like in the near future. Sad days. I hope this thing rights itself soon. But I fear it wont.

Indeed, there have been big changes on these fronts... Apparently you can now see Mt. Everest for the first time in history from some places, thanks to reduced smog. Animals have reemerged and are walking the city streets in many places. Even near me, there's a new sight, namely goose crap all over the sidewalks. There are no people, but plenty of Canada geese that must have been hiding nearby all these years...
