I don't think you can always control how you angry you feel. But I think you can control how you react to that anger. If you're a guy and you hit a woman, you make a choice...that's right...a choice to physically assault a woman.
Some men have such control, except after enough alcohol to remove their inhibitions. There's a common phenomenon of men becoming supposedly entirely different people when drunk, becoming enraged and violent. My take is that if someone is capable of something when under the influence, they're capable of the same thing when sober, and the problem needs to be addressed preemptively. Not that I would encourage anyone to drink, but alcohol is sort of like a "truth serum" to reveal one's true nature.
