Hello everyone
I have been diagnosed with fibro in 2013
It is been a rollercoaster for me with the pain and the depression as well. I took cymbalta for some years but then i quit with it and stopped taking anti depressants...a month and a half ago ..to be precise 13.10 i was recommened by a psychatrist to try amitriptyline 10 mg ..so i started taking it ( only once a day) on 7.11..something hit me...i was really depressed..i only wanted to cry..this feeling was overwhelming a nd i could not control my feelings...my reuhome told me to stop the meds right away cause they r causing me more depression..while my psychatrist said that the med is " wetting my depression" and this is how it works...i stopped it anyways cause all i wanted is 2 die ...the feeling started sort of going away for days but then it would come back for a day or more...today i felt horrible with the same crying feeling ...i am not sure what's going on...is it possible that my body is still reacting to the meds?????....(p.s i take tramadol for pain

Yes, it is very common.
My rule is this: psych meds, psychiatrist,
rheumatologist for neuro.
However they must know, dialogue is crucial between all doctors.
Keep strong, you have had a change, and Cymbalta is a nasty washout, probably a bit of this happening along with the uptake of the new medication. Around four weeks, side effects are usually in the first two weeks, give it some time, however keep the dialogue open with your health care team.

I have been off cymbalta 4 yeras now

Elatrolet is a new experience.....plus an awful one

on 7.11 it all started the overwhelming depression...i stopped it...the feeling was constant...untill two weeks ago when it started to come and go ...


.i still get the down feeling on and off..

Webmd.com said about amitriptyline (which I knew as elavil antidepressant):

"this medication may not work right away. You may see some benefit within a week. However, it may take up to 4 weeks before you feel the full effect.

"Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens (such as your feelings of sadness get worse, or you have thoughts of suicide)."

You also said, "today i felt horrible with the same crying feeling"

When is your next appointment with your psychiatrist?

I have fibromyalgia too since about 2002. I have gotten used to the pain. The constant fatigue drives me crazy.

It is possible that you need an antidepressant. But yes, do let the doc know everything with the dates and all. I hope you feel better soon. Being depressed is no fun.
