What to add to Wellbutrin?

Hi all, long story short... was put on Buproprion (Wellbutrin) XL 150mg a short time ago -- recently switched to the SR 150mg as the XL (24 hr acting one) was causing some insomnia and anxiety. Reasoning is the SR only lasts 12 hours in your body so if taken in the morning it should be out of your system before bedtime. Anyways I'm still not crazy about the anxious feelings this med gives me (long acting or short acting). I got off SSRI's and SNRI's before Buproprion because of the side effects like loss of libido and emotional blunting. I like the energizing effect of Wellbutrin, it gives me more motivation and doesn't have the sexual side effects like SSRI's/SNRI's do. But I realize now I could maybe use a low dose SSRI or SNRI in addition to the Wellbutrin to even things out and alleviate some of the anxiety. I've tried Cymbalta before and although it dulled libido I found a low dose didn't affect that aspect bad as say some SSRI's I've tried. I was thinking though since Wellbutrin does act on the norepinephrine receptors would adding an SNRI be a good idea as wouldn't this cause too much 'norepinephrine activity'... if that makes any sense. Or would adding some other SSRI or SNRI be better? I may be following up with my doc soon but just wondering anyone else's thoughts/experiences they'd like to share... that'd be much appreciated!

I take Mirtazapine antidepressant, also called Remeron.

As for which group it's in, drugs.com said it was a "Tetracyclic antidepressants."

I don't think that's in either of the groups you are mentioning (SSRI's/SNRI's).

There is only one other antidepressant (Ludiomil, generic name: maprotiline) in that class so it appears to be in a different group than the SSRI's/SNRI's you talked about.

As to the side effects, you might want to look that up on the net.

Oh, of the Mirtazapine (Remeron), my psychiatrist started me off at 15mg a day. I got her to reduce it to half of that, 7.5 mg. a day, to take away a side affect. So I think they want to start you off at 15mg. but for me that was too much.

I take Wellbutrin XL 300mg, Cymbalta 90 mg and Abilify 2 mg. Abilify is commonly used at low doses to augment other antidepressants.
