NAMI.org said about the side effects of Welbutrin (Bupropion) anti-depressant:
Common side effects:
"Headache, weight loss, dry mouth, trouble sleeping (insomnia), nausea, dizziness, constipation, fast heartbeat, and sore throat. These will often improve over the first week or two as you continue to take the medication."
Rare/serious side effects:
"Less than 10% of patients will experience skin rash, sweating, ringing in the ears, shakiness, stomach pain, muscle pain, thought disturbances, anxiety or angle closure glaucoma."
As for insomnia, for bipolar I take Mirtazapine antidepressant and Lithium as a stabilizer to stop the anti-depressant from sending me into mania and possibly anxiety attacks.
But to help me sleep, I take Melatonin from the health food, grocery and drug stores. I also use a heating pad which is like a teddy bear.
If the heating pad gets too hot, I can lower it to "1." I also put a small towel between me and the heating pad to absorb about 1/2 of the heat. I also thought recently, I need to find a heating pad that has a self-timer that cuts off after 15 or 30 minutes.
You can also take the Melatonin 30 minutes or an hour or two or more before bedtime to give it time to take effect.
