depression hurts your wallet/part 2

 I am sure depression hurts your wallet part 1 went to cyber heaven somewhere....so I am continuing this thread/rant.

I am seeing somebody from Legal Aid to get more information today. I also wrote my congressman and contacted my former congressman.  I am hoping for the best but think I am probably cooked by the system.

I have been seeing my doctor who is a psychiatrist for 10 years.  I receive Medicare and have a host of physical problems.  My HMO has "carved out" this section of health care (mental health) to a for-profit provider which my doctor does not want to participate in.  Therefore my co-pay will increase 1,000%.

I feel like crying over the whole thing but that would do no good and I am too dried up to cry anyway.

Boy this is one lousy system.

 

yes, wmnak...you are probably right. These insurance companies do not care a fig about my complaints but on the other hand I am kind of shaking them up a little bit which is what they need.

gee wmnak...it is hard to believe you are having so much of a hassle with a legitimate medical need. It is just not right. I had a fit because they made me take off my shoes at the airport. The male clerk was rude and stupid. When I was flying home some guy from New Jersey was trying to blind pilots with some kind of laser gun. The whole thing was kind of nightmarish and my psychiatrist was there to help me when we discussed it at our next meeting.

I will be talking to my psychiatrist on Tuesday and will go to my insurance company's meeting tomorrow. I have decided to stick with them since I don't know what else to do. The department of the aging is having a forum on Medicare and different plans on November 14.

The thing is that I like seeing a doctor because I have some physical problems and he is attuned to that. He is also from New York City and understands where I am coming from on certain levels.

I went to this "extra" thing and I thought...well these guys are nuts. I am supposed to be the nut!!!!!!!!!!! It was strange to say the least and I did not want to participate which made the "leader" very upset. I am not sure that the fates would be kind to me and let me find a great doc under the new system. I would not check it out until the spring anyway because one does not drive around in the ice in Upstate New York checking out stuff. Maybe I'm just a chicken drive but all I have is my little neon.
