I know we have talked about this before,but I wanted to put a warning on here.
Last night we rented "American Haunting". I was fine with the movie,except for the last 30 minutes. It ended up being about a girl that was molested by her father. It made me sick to my stomach,and I had nightmares all night.
Just be careful.

As soon as the movie was over the first person I thought about was you Elisha...I was hoping you had not seen it yet.
While browsing in the movie section there was one called "Hard Candy",after reading the back I decided it was another one I should stay away from.

I saw it Shy and wished I hadnt, it stayed on my mind for several days after.  I dont mind a good scary movie but the content or basis of it was what got me (you know)

Thanks for the head's up on Hard Candy, I rent movies like crazy...I get bored on the weekends and saw that one last time I was at the video store but didnt read the back.  I thought I would get it this weekend maybe, now I wont.  Your a great friend! :-)

I am going to stay away from that one too.... I got a book from the library this weekend,it is by Stephen king and called "Rose Madder". Now,most would say to stay away from this book if you have ever been in an abusive relationship I am sure. It is about a woman that was married to a cop that is totally physco... But,I can't put it down because it goes into him getting major payback. He does become a serial killer,but the beginning of the story she basically breaks and walks out on him and it tells about her journey....just remember Stephen Kings mind,so it does have some supernatural things going on...

I can totally relate to this - I can't watch stuff with public humiliation in it ya know like Jack as*

I even worry about going to see movies that I "should", I think be alright with - I would hate to have to pay to go and see something only to have to leave and feel like crap.

I would rather wait til I could rent it then if it was bad I could turn it off and be upset in my own home.

Even some of the storys ppl tell me I have had to walk away cos it's upset me so much , and I will have these images in my mind forever sad they are not abuse as such - just pranks that peeps have played on each other , thing is they all come out of it laughing , so I don't know what's up with me , apart from the fact that I wouldn't want it to happen to me.

I find that there are so many books published by people who have suffered child abuse.  I cannot bring myself to read them as I find it painful enough having my own memories and worry that reading about someone elses will cause more pain.

 

I am also very wary of films too as I can get easily scared or upset.  I found 'wolf creek' disturbing and this wasn't even about child abuse, it involved the kidnapping of backpackers.  It really haunted me though.
