Hi frassy,
you can email me by going to row of icons that are under my (or any other members) username...there you will find a small envelope on the far left side which when your mouse is on it will show my email address or you can click on it to message me. You can also click on a person's username and this takes you to their profile which will give you their email addy if you mail service isnt connected with office.
as to your main questions of your post I just want to say that I do understand your fustration. I too have worked as a social worker (have BS in psychology and am working on masters now) for many years and my professional experiance is with the extremely mentally ill. However, the rule that I edited your post was not formed by me, all that I can say is that we have found that once there is a start of these type of discussions no matter if they are positive others tend to reply to them and take advantage of the leway and before you know it we have a whole bunch of horrific posts being made on a depression forum. That is why the rule states no discussion of suicide or self harm as they are deemed negative and detremental to others...which is true basically. As a CSW you know it is never safer to say nothing when you see a post such as this. What you can do as a member is tag a moderator who is online at the time when you see such a post so that this can be edited or you can message one of us or the admin regarding it, there is a triangle at the right top corner of your posting screen that you can alert the admin about a post or member. We do edit these for the greater good of the forum but we also strongly encourage the poster to seek help and leave the appropiate hotlines for them. As this is the internet there isnt much that we can do to help while making sure this is a safe place for the majority of members to post.
I hope I have answered your questions to satisfaction. If not, please do feel free to message me at any time. My door so to speak is always open....
