Lexapro and CRAZY dreams - can nayone help? even if not on lexapro

I was on Effexor and dont remember the vivid and weird and sometimes scary dreams I now have with lexapor. Some days I am in bed by 8pm sometimes I am up till 3AM...and the dreams are so real its like I can wake up and wonder if it really happened and I remember EVERY detail of the dream. Before lexapro I would not remember.

Can anyone share similar stories.

Hi Shen
Welcome to the forum.
I had very vivid and crazy dreams when I was on meds. I didn't take Lexapro,but took several others.
Even now and being off of meds for awhile,I still have vivid and scary dreams.
I also wake up in panic attacks due to my dreams.
I would suggest reading a novel before you go to bed..nothing scary. Sometimes that helps me.
I would also talk to your doctor and tell him about this,he might want to put you on something else if it continues.

Hi Shen,

I completely relate to this! I have been on Lexapro almost 2 years, and have had vivid, realistic dreams the entire time that I've been on the medication. A lot of my dreams have my deceased relatives in them.. and I wake up thinking for a few minutes that it was not a dream at all... sometimes I look forward to the dreams, as they are not nightmares really, just very vivid. Even though I have this side effect, it's better than the depression, which I have relapsed into a few times... *hugs*

Hi Shen,

I take Ambien for sleep and I have vivid dreams, but I get eight hrs sleep. lol, Dee
