Hi dragonfly, It has been a very long time since I was on Amitriptyline. I was prescribed it by my neurologist for chronic headaches that were asscoiated with my MS. According to Mosby's Drug Guide 2006 the smallest tablet form is 10mg and it goes up from there 25, 50, 75, 100 and 150. After that it comes in injections. So it should be pretty easy for your doctor to decrease your dosage for you and titrate it down in small amounts every other week or so. With medication like this you dont want to go off of it quickly or just stop taking it. But that is always up to your doctor and you to decide what is best in your situation.
But just so you do know....the onset of this med is 45 mins (meaning it starts to absorbe), it peaks in your body between 2-12 hours, and it has a half life of 10-46 hours.
